Can the VAM be installed 90 degress

My son in law is getting our white car ready for autocross and he installed the VAM rotated at 90 degrees vs horizontal. We are having some trouble with getting the car to run right could this be the problem?

Mine is sitting at 90° no problems.

I've been modifying my XR4 down here in Australia, and this is what I've ended up with - seems to work fine!
