Best TPS to use for replacement

Post by Amfo »

Motorcraft even still make the replacement TPS? I was looking into the Airtex ones on Rock Auto dot com. Seem to made pretty well?

Everyone loves the Motorcraft parts to put on these cars. I bet a Merkur vendor would have a MC one available.

If a MC one is not available, you can use a Standard. Last TPS I replaced on my '97 Aerostar was a standard brand, it had a Motorcraft number stamped right on it, and the stop where motorcraft would have been stamped was left blank, which tells me Standard made the OEM part.

Its a "reboxed" part - genuine Ford parts just reboxed by Standard. Sometimes you can get lucky in your shopping adventures and score one like this. I've seen a total of 5 different TPS all in the same box and part # on the box, some OEM reboxed stuff, some nice USA made replacement parts, some taiwan made replacement parts. Its just a roll of the dice...

Indeed I saw this all the time when I worked at autozone. Sometimes you would have OEM products in the box, sometimes you would have aftermarket.

Yes that happen all the time, I used to work on a big warehouse where we get thousands of different products and our job was re-box, re-bag and re-label everything with Caterpillar brand stuff, but all the parts came from different makers, brands and countries. :cheers
