A/C light flickering
A/C light flickering
I imagine I just need to put more Freon in, but I've never noticed the green A/C light flickering or not coming on when I push the button, which is what I have now. No cool air either, but I sorta expected that.
Just low on Freon, or has someone else seen this with a different problem?

Re: A/C light flickering
Mine does the same thing. Mine is charged but I can't get the compressor to kick in. Looks like we have three similar threads that are dealing with the a/c issue. Hopefully we can come up with a solution.
Re: A/C light flickering
I'm starting to think I have a ground issue as well. With the engine off, the key on, the light is bright green. When the engine is running, the light flickers and the graphic display outside lights up front as blinking on and off (I forget if those are low beams or parking lights, pretty sure my city lights are what they are showing on mine).

It could also be an ignition switch problem too.

Hadn't thought about that, but it is idling fine, well as far as the 2.3 can idle fine. It idles high when stopping at lights, which I think is the IAC needing cleaned.KhanTyranitar wrote:It could also be an ignition switch problem too.
Amazing how much better it runs when the VAM is connected to the hose.

Re: A/C light flickering
I was low on Freon. Switched over to R134. Also, the A/C switch is bad. I pulled one from my project/parts car, will put it in
today.

Re: A/C light flickering
My ac light was flickering on my car, it was the connections to the light itself.
I just crimped them a little bit and it was solid again.
Now I just need to get a compressor and hose to make it all work now.

Re: A/C light flickering
Mine wasn't putting out enough juice to make the compressor go. There is going to be a relay in the line to do the heavy lifting for this switch.GPz11 wrote:My ac light was flickering on my car, it was the connections to the light itself.

Still need to get another switch, but I'm going to see if I can clean this one up.
Mike, add it to my list..... Thursday evening good for you?

Re: A/C light flickering
The green light on mine did the same the other day but in my case it was the 30amp fuse at the fuse box, it was blown.

Removing that switch involves dropping the bottom drivers side dash and the center console as well to access two bolts holding the lower center dash section. Lotsa work. :-[

Sure, I have spare good AC switches here. Thursday eve should not be a problem...DAReese wrote:Mine wasn't putting out enough juice to make the compressor go. Re: A/C light flickering
You can just remove the small section ( lower drivers side ) and then just bend your hand around a bit to access the back of the AC switch. Might get an extra scratch or cut on your hand doing it this way, but saves removing any other parts to access it.Ed Lijewski wrote:Removing that switch involves dropping the bottom drivers side dash and the center console as well to access two bolts holding the lower center dash section. Took me about 15 minutes, 10 of them just thinking to myself there has to be an easier way....merkurdriver wrote:You can just remove the small section ( lower drivers side ) and then just bend your hand around a bit to access the back of the AC switch. Re: A/C light flickering
did replacing your switch fix your a/c problem?
where you able to get at it by just removing the lower dash on the drivers side?
if you did does the switch then pull out from the back or are there screws holding it in?
I recharged my a\c and replaced the switch at the evaporator and it still won't kick in; my green light does flicker occasionally and it takes a couple of presses to turn it off so I need to get it out and look it over.
