Turn indicator again
Turn indicator again
Anyone ever heard of a way to put in a different turn signal switch, than the stock one? I keep reading how the stock ones always fail no matter what.
Re: Turn indicator again
I've never had one fail on any of the three XRs that I've owned over 20+ years.MissErika wrote:Anyone ever heard of a way to put in a different turn signal switch, than the stock one? I keep reading how the stock ones always fail no matter what.

All I know is that I found another forum where people complained about having to replace it numerous times.
Re: Turn indicator again
Don't worry about it

Re: Turn indicator again
Only reason I ask, is mine did fail, and I dont want to et a used one and have it fail too.

Re: Turn indicator again
I got a Euro-style one from Jeff, and like it a lot, especially the hazard switch. I think it's made better-- certainly feels like it-- plus it's newer.

Re: Turn indicator again
I think it all depends upon how you activate your turn signal. If you slam it down, then yea, they'll break. The mini-vans my wife drives have both broken turn signal switches, both for the left turn. I doubt we make more left turns than right, but it is a lot easier to put a lot more pressure on the switch when turning left.MissErika wrote:All I know is that I found another forum where people complained about having to replace it numerous times.
I just try to remember these switches are about 25 years old for the newest ones, so they will break. I use them with a soft touch.

Re: Turn indicator again
The only issues I have had with the turn indicator switch-other than the hazard issue, that is-is the failure of the cancel cam.

Re: Turn indicator again
The Euro style is the way to go, the hazard button is much sturdier and the unit is a direct replacement!

Re: Turn indicator again
But for the purists, there is a noticeable difference. The Euro one has a much more rounded look to it, so unless you're replacing both switches, you can see something's a bit off, but you might not be able to tell what it is.JimG wrote:The Euro style is the way to go, the hazard button is much sturdier and the unit is a direct replacement!

Re: Turn indicator again
I'm not a purist, I'll go for a Euro one when I need it.

Have the "upgraded" euro ones in stock and on hand...as well as brand new stock ones and good used stock ones.
