Clutch pedal bushings???
Re: Clutch pedal bushings???
Take a look at these 2 or something else from mcmaster carr...
These are an inch size nylon but i think you could make it work with a little sanding.

This one is a metric bronze unit but you might need to turn down the OD some and cut it shorter.

Dorman also has some universal parts that might work:

Re: Clutch pedal bushings???
Those are very good sources, except the last resembles the Fox body part I got from Ford. I'll see about getting some to try. Leaning more toward something harder than the nylon like bronze.

Re: Clutch pedal bushings???
There are some on that site that would most likely work. I was sort of impatient to get back on the road(been a yr, and now the first with YB power). I got a kit from OPMD that included 4 bushing, spacers as well as Clutch Quadrant assembly(see pics), not a bad price for OEM replacement kit. Took out a lot of play, I still wish to try something tighter later on.
Stock oem setup..
After install new bushing and spacer that replaces loader spring..

Is the kit you got from OPMD this?

What does the loader spring do?

Re: Clutch pedal bushings???
Yes that's the kit, best I can tell the spring keeps the brake pedal to one side, and you push to left to remove the clip. But the spacer eliminates the need, the clip will go in without a problem, and pedal doesn't move.
Re: Clutch pedal bushings???
I would definitely buy a set of bronze bushings.

If you guys still want something machined let me know.
Try to make up your minds before 1/26/14, that's when my son is due and I don't or see a whole lot of free time after that.

Re: Clutch pedal bushings???
Is there something about the bushings in the OPMD kit that I'm missing? The originals lasted 25 years.
thanks

Exactly.
Thanks, James.
Same goes for the ratchet and pawl mechanism. Replace it, and forget it.

Re: Clutch pedal bushings???
OK, good to be on the same page. The Godfrey adjuster is a sweet piece but it's $150 vs $25 for the OPMD kit and it comes with all the bushings….come on

Re: Clutch pedal bushings???
Sorry but I miss read that, I thought you were saying that his kit had the bushings.

Re: Clutch pedal bushings???
Do you have a pedal box to work from? If not I could send you my old brake pedal set up.
My original goal was to locate replacement bushing, with that done, I'd like to go farther and work on tighten up the whole assembly. With harder less clearance bushing. I'm using a AP Racing pressure plate with 6pad Alcon disc, the pressure plate is uprated for higher torque(330lb/ft) . I am seeing flexing in the pedal box that I would like to eliminate short of going hydraulic system.Rob'Z wrote:If you guys still want something machined let me know.

Re: Clutch pedal bushings???
What you're looking to do requires beefing up the pedal box/firewall.
Stephen
Re: Clutch pedal bushings???
Don't really have any issues with the firewall. Upon installing the bushing I came to realize the clutch pedal is a add-on. Brake box which has a top, two sides and cross bar that ties it together rather good, then the clutch pedal is hug on the end and bolted to it. I'm looking at boxing the clutch in, so to not flex as much. If you put your head down under dash and watch as the clutch cable is loaded(especially with HD pressure plate) you'll can see how it flexes toward firewall.CV12Steve wrote:What you're looking to do requires beefing up the pedal box/firewall.
