It is a good post John, the links for merkurtech have a lot of info.
Other issue I have with them is there are no part numbers or much real info on the stuff used to do "X".

When I look at the page of links, I see a lot of stuff that I want and will never be able to do. :(

Whatever you can't find, ask; someone here likely knows. As to stuff you can only dream of doing... well, join the club! I have been drooling over and dreaming about things I've seen others do to their cars for most of my life, so, I've learned to be happy with what I can do. :cheers

I got a question. I acquired one of Merkur Depot's (I think) radiator/intercooler combo from this site. I dropped the old radiator without any real issues. However, trying to install the new setup, I am running into some issues and some differences from Merkur Depot's website (inlets and intercooler size)

Question 1: What is the lower right and the little gold inlet on the right side on the radiator?

Compared to Merkur Depot's Website:

Question 2: Was I supposed to drill a hole to mount it?

Question 3: What hoses go where? It kinda goes back to Q1.

Looks like the previous owner added 2 fittings to the one you bought.

I'm guessing the lowest fitting they added is would be for gravity feed from the lower coolant bottle outlet.the small gold fitting ...no idea. Can you ask who you got it from what the extra fittings they added are for?

The flange at the top goes right up against the core so you'll need to remove the stock rubber stud things.

The IC core you have on yours is the better of the 2 versions we offered :)

previous owner says the lower right goes to the resvoiur, but doesnt know what the gold piece is. Is there supposed to be a spacer for the radiator? I am asking because the space between the intercooler and headlights is pretty tight and it is a struggle to get the radiator mount screws all the way in.

Next batch will just be alum shorty rad ( no IC ). Combos are going to be a while before they happen again.

Its a TIGHT fit. Try to make sure the wires are all out of the way and if you want you can use a flat chunk of rubber between the mounting tabs and the body as a cushion/spacer. Or with the combos you can even use the stock sleeve and rubber discs at the mounting tabs just like on the stock rad.
the only thing there isn't "room" for are the top isolator stud things.

Hope they do come back, as I think the version this gentleman has, as produced, is the best and most reasonably-priced rad/IC combo ever made for these cars. :cheers

Well, I got another few questions. I think I got ahead of myself when I bolted in the radiator. Was I supposed to install the fan before? Also, I order the same 12" fan. How did you secure it? I assume I need to drill a hole into the bottom tab to bolt the bottom in, but how did you secure the top? My last question is where did you find the hoses? Mine are old and crusty. El Paso's stores are no help. They keep asking me "what was the car again?" I am getting a little fed up with them. I cant even get universal hoses then again, I am not really sure what I need.

71679 is a good coolant hose to use for the upper:

Lower uses the stock rad hose.

The fans secure with push thru nylon things that should come in the box wih the fan.

I rigged The radiator with 2 12"fans. The same one as bought the opening post. Does anyone know what kind of connector I need to make them work?
