Where can I get fuel pump and a fuel sending unit
I have a 1986 merkur that has sat for years and the fuel pump and fuel sending unit are corroded and need replaced. I can't seem to find where I can get the parts I need

Fuel pumps you can buy anywhere - rockauto, etc. The sending unit is unique to the car and the only way you'll find one is used. I'd look at merkurdepot.com to start.

You cannot buy the sender new. They are only available used from people who sell used parts.

As mentioned the stock pump is easy to source, upgraded pump is easy to source...but the sending unit is the difficult piece to find. I think MPM may have been offering a rebuild/refurb service on the sending units if I remember correctly.

if you upgrade to a fuel cell, does that negate the need for the stock sending unit?

I've seen fuel cells that have a more generic sending unit in them, with an autometer type gauge hooked up. I wonder why I can't do something like this in the original fuel tank? Mine gauge lies to me worse than a teenager.
