Suspension upgrades?
Everything I'm finding drops the car, I don't really want to do that. If anything I'm looking for more of a stiffer spring at either stock height, or a wee bit higher. More of a rally stance. Any suggestions?

Re: Suspension upgrades?
I am selling a set of stock height springs that add enough stiffness without being too harsh for daily driving. They are 250 lb/in for the fronts and 550 lb/in in the rear which is seriously a well balanced car for the spirited daily driver. The ones i have for sale don't have too many miles and name brand Hyperco springs. Selling them at a great price!! PM me if you're interested.

Whats the price range you're thinking?
Very good suspension is available....inverted 40mm Bilstein fronts, 50mm Bilstein coilovers back, made in USA to Ford Motorsport's specifications right down to the valving... normal ride height or + or - a bit.
First version way back in 2002:

Installed--along with a nice brake upgrade from same guy (also to Fprd's motorsport spec)
Local car with full JVAB suspension
Another in Missouri
And a guy in Massachusetts.
Works good in this kind of use. Will outlast the car in road car use.
But what price is too much. This stuff is around $2200 complete.

2200 I'm sure there're worth every penny that I would have to save to afford a set.

Re: Suspension upgrades?
Brakes & suspension should really take precedence over any hp upgrades; if it cannot stop & handle, what are you going to do with 300-400 hp?
On the other hand, cossie lights & wing will make it go faster and handle "batter" as well

Re: Suspension upgrades?
Im in the process of completely converting my XR4Ti over to the Scorpio Suspension, axles & hubs. I will be utilize 5 lug rims in 17". This will allow me to install larger brakes etc... I have install Koni ride height adjustable shocks. Only problem I'm still overcoming is the rim manufacture used to make/sell the exact offset I require. However, I ordered a little over a year ago & did not realize the distributor got same (available) offset as the rear's They are close offset but I will require a small billet wheel spacer/adapter to adjust my offset space to prevent the rubbing currently occurring on my Koni adj shocks. I will probably hit another snag or two nut honestly mostly all work completed, including rear's & upgraded bushing's all around, so I would recommend this upgrade to anyone whom has the means... I own two (2) xr4ti's; one I decided to utilize as a parts car & a Scorpio with engine issue.

Re: Suspension upgrades?
A 5mm spacer will fix all your problems up front. MC2racing has a set for $20 or so. Also, I see a small problem with your coilover setup. The sleeve is installed directly on the bead of the shock body. there's supposed to be a machined collar there to give the sleeve a wider shoulder to sit on. The sleeve can split or stretch causing it to drop lower than that bead.
You can kinda see it here in this pic. Its basically just a washer/collar that you can make.

Re: Suspension upgrades?
Well, start saving. and note that it can be done a little shorter for pure road/asphalt cars.iw wrote: 2200 I'm sure there're worth every penny that I would have to save to afford a set.

Re: Suspension upgrades?
i am using jvab rears for tarmac/road use (autocross). mc2 fronts, but will be reworking those at some point as the valving is not a good match for the spring rate.
as with most things, you get what you pay for.
and john, i promise i will be stopping by soon to work on the clutch and rear diff issues. and i am pretty sure i owe you some monies

Glad you keep track, my big concern is finishing off the revision on the diff mounting..I haz a lotta dough tied up in things that need the last operation done and people are clamoring for diff kits and brake bells and flywheels..
Pooor me!
Be nice to see you again, see how you're doing.

Hmm...my Focus GC setup didn't come with that either. Whoops.Esteban wrote:Also, I see a small problem with your coilover setup. Re: Suspension upgrades?
you wont need it as the sleeve probably is machined with a lip to sit on something sturdier
