Pick n Pull time!

Post by DialM4Speed »

Looks like there's a somewhat fresh TC at the local pick n pull so I'm heading to see if there's anything good left on the carcass. I'm looking to start gathering parts for a T-5 swap. This isn't happening soon just want to start collecting bits. Unfortunately after reading many posts and the page on the Merkur Encyclopedia I must admit I'm completely confused. Besides the transmission what else should I grab? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What year is the TC and does it actually have a T-5 rather than A4LD? I would only consider a WC T-5 from a '87 or '88. Frankly, the better donor, if you want a 3.97 T-5, is a '91 - '93 2.3 Mustang since it will have some of the later improvements. Also, it likely won't have been beat on as much as one from a barge-heavy T-bird.

Also bear in mind the TC will have a hydraulic clutch, so the bell is different. A couple people have fabbed up hydraulic clutches in a Merkur, but obviously that is more involved.
