Post by JimG »

Anyone know what the thread size is for the EGR pipe fitting in the exhaust manifold is? I'm deleting EGR and will need a plug for this.

Yep, its NPT thread commonly found in the local hardware store plumbing department. Mine has one of those plugs with the "square" on the head

And what do you use to seal it? Or is that even required?

NPT threads are self-sealing by design. You could probably use a little ultra copper RTV in there if you wanted to be sure, or (my choice), some high-quality anti-seize so you can get it back out later. :)

Smog testing-- some areas require it to not only be installed, but actually test its function.

And just because they don't smog test in your area now, doesn't mean they won't in the future... or that someone who buys the car won't need it.

All true!

But, really, why make something more difficult to take apart in the future when it costs virtually no money and no time to help ensure you'll be able to. Better to do it and never need it than not do it and wish you had.
