ideal offset for 17x7.5 wheels on xr4ti

Post by dirtydevin »

I recently purchased my first xr4ti and it has been sitting for a few years so I am in need of tires, I figured I might as well upgrade the wheels and tires now. I have found very few decent priced wheels in a correct offset for this car, and figure I will have to play with spacers a little to get exactly the right fit. I found some decent looking msr 13 wheels in 17x7.5 et38 and I think with 5mm spacers [keeping it hubcentric] pushing them to et33 I should clear the stock suspension with 215/40/17 front and 235/40/17 rear. Anyone agree or disagree or have experience with a 7.5 wide rim and know the ideal offset. I am willing to roll the fenders a bit but am more concerned with strut clearance as I don't have coilovers.

I had 16x7.5 ET42 wheels and needed a 5mm spacer to make them fit. So I think with ET38 you should be fine but will be cutting it real close. A 5mm spacer to make it ET33 will be fine as well. and i believe 215/40 should clear the struts but the perches can always be massaged a little to fit.

I think you would be fine with a 17x7.5 et38. I run a 17x8 et38 now and it is a hair away from contacting the strut body up front. Actually, two of then are bent and were contacting, so i had to move them to the rear.

A 17x7.5 et38 will have 6mm more clearance on the inside than I currently have, so I don't suspect any issues. 215/40R17 will clear the spring perch.

I have 17 x 7.5 x 42mm offset and they look great but I had to roll the front fender lips and I have very minor rubbing on the strut tube, but I mean VERY minor.

I'm not trying to sell these wheels right now but this is exactly what you're looking for. They don't rub.
