Re: Antifreeze
Anyone know of reasons why/why not to use major brands e.g., Prestone, etc?

Everything that I've read is less about brand and more about "Use the green stuff."John Brennan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2017 3:16 pm Anyone know of reasons why/why not to use major brands e.g., Prestone, etc?

Re: Antifreeze
It's more important to ensure regular changes, than whatever you decide to put in it, IMHO.
Next to brake fluid, it's the most neglected fluid I see after 40+ years of working on motor vehicles.

How often, keeping in mind that the car is driven about 1K miles a year?Mike McCreight wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2017 4:21 pm It's more important to ensure regular changes, than whatever you decide to put in it, IMHO.

Re: Antifreeze
I can't remember the capacity of the factory XR setup, (anyone??) but generally, for the minimal investment in fluids, I try to remember to change mine every 2 years.
Brake fluid goes every year.
