I have been looking at the G2 kit for the 2.3 motor for a quite while and wonder if it is a good replacement for the broken BCS? The price is certainly reasonable, it seems. I think others in here have used this? Happy with it?

Thanks for the quick reply. I will order a spare set, I guess, as they are certainly not a normal stock item in any parts houses.

I tried to get the dash panel out but could not get the speedo cable loose. Are bulbs like the clock on the back of the dash panel? Or does it have 168 or 194 bulbs?

Oh, I have tags for the car now and can drive it around now! It can be driven as if it is a normal daily driver car now, if needed.

Cheers
The lights are on the back of the instrument panel, but they are not the same bulbs as the clock. Some have soldered 194s in the holder to replace them, but they aren't 194 bulbs. Image

To get the dash out, you need to reach behind it and squeeze the white clamp ring that holds the speedometer cable in the speedometer.

Your link won't display as an image. Here's a shot of the bulb from that page.

G2 Gillis valve is an excellent unit for an excellent price. Be sure to get the XR4Ti specific "kit" and not just the "universal" one.

Great info, thanks for the help.

I am guessing that the bulb might be a PC168 which is a 168 bulb in a small socket that can plug in and rotate 1/4 turn to fit its' holder? Ford and Chrysler both used them. I am making this guess without being at the car, as it is 250 miles away. Standard Motor Parts have the socket itself for sale but Phillips sell the socket with bulb in it already as a PC168. ???

I will get a G2 XR4Ti kit as a replacement for the BCS. One more item on the parts list!

I know what infinity means when I am asked; it is the length of the list for things I want to buy for this old car! haha

Hi all,

I have compiled a list of bulbs for the XR4Ti as an exercise in looking up stuff. I mentioned I'm in the auto parts business, I think. What I am wondering about is the PC168 bulbs I meant to try last weekend when I could not get the speedometer cable loose. I seem to remember a list like this in here in the past and this may be boring or redundant.

XR4Ti bulb list for interior and exterior bulbs

37 Dash lights, ashtray light

89 Dome light, trunk light

904/912/921 Parking lights, any will work, different intensity levels

1156 Under hood bulb, rear turn signal, back up light

1157 Tail light, stop light

168 Side marker, map light (instrument panel light?)

194 Glove box light, map light (instrument panel light?)

9004 Headlight

880 Fog light, rated 27 watts power consumption

893 Alternate fog light bulb? identical shape, 37.5 watts power consumption, anyone used these?

912/921 High mount brake light, either works, different intensity level

1816 License plate light

LED bulbs may be substituted for many of these numbers. Some flasher units will not work with LED bulbs and would

need to be changed out for a compatible unit.

HP-4100 Bulb socket for INSTRUMENT PANEL BULBS, Standard Motor Parts, use either 168 or 194 bulb

168PC Bulb socket with 168 bulb installed fits in instrument panel ??? Yes? No???

I see 2721 (Sylvania) bulbs listed for the UK Sierra and that crosses to a 74 bulb it seems. Anyone used either one for the dash? I see no cross for the small socket mounted bulbs for the clock.

Cheers
