Replaced rusted rockers, quieter interior
I replaced the outer rocker panels and patched the floor area which was completely gone next to the rocker on both sides. The driver side was worse. I purchased the panels from Fixmyrust.com, good quality part made in Denmark. After replacing them the interior is much quieter. I assume it’s because the sound isn’t bouncing off the road and coming up through the holes, which were ~2 feet long. But I think it’s also because now that the shell is one piece again, the panels are not vibrating on their own, which caused a lot of vibrating noise when under heavy acceleration. Quite a nice difference. A combination of welding, riveting, panel bonding, epoxy primer and sound deadening fixed everything and it should last forever now.
