1989 Merkur Xr4Ti AGM Battery
Other than a faulty alternator, what could cause parasitic drain on my new Deka AGM battery?
Re: 1989 Merkur Xr4Ti AGM Battery
I've seen more than one person report problems with the power locks sticking that caused a battery drain. I think I've seen reports of faulty cigarette lighters too.
You can try to identify the circuit that the drain is on by pulling fuses one at a time until the drain stops. Once you know which circuit the problem device is on, that should make trouble-shooting a lot simpler.

Yeah, relays sticking is what I've seen/found....
Re: 1989 Merkur Xr4Ti AGM Battery
Hi all,
I had trouble with the solenoid in the door in the passenger door drawing seven amps when the car was off.
I pulled the trim panel, removed the plastic sheeting on the inside of the door and then cleaned and lubed the actuator rod from the door handle to the solenoid and sprayed penetrating oil in the top of the solenoid. It has been fine since, works freely and acts as I remember when it was new. I disconnect the battery still when it is in storage but no issues with the door since.
Cheers
