If my alternator is causing battery drain, should I simply replace the alternator or replace the alternator diode? What should be the reasonable cost of replacement either of the diode or the alternator?

Take your alternator out and have it bench tested. Report back. If you need a good used one, just let me know. Btw; where are you located?

Thank you. A remanufactured Bosch alternator costs about $140 with tax and shipping in my area: Huntington, NY. Could you provide a high-quality equivalent with warranty for much less?
