screen grabs from German DTM classic race on youtube

Post by Lotus907efi » Sun Oct 06, 2019 12:50 pm

I was watching a german touring car race today on youtube and I noticed there was Sierra or Merkur running in the race.
When they showed a replay of a mechanical problem the car had as it was going through a turn I decided to make some screen grabs of the sequence to post here.
The video can be seen at:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaDLApdyKow

This is a live stream so it might be taken off-line after the live stream is finished.

Image first indication of issues (note sparks near top of front wheel
Image Again sparks just behind top of front wheel
Image Rear three quarter view of car (barely visible sparks shooting out of front wheel)
Image More sparks seen shooting out of top of front wheel
Image Bad things are happening here
Image Wheel leaving the scene of the incident

One of the rare times it was passed by an M3
You're only as good as the last car you build.

would love to know the wheel/tire spec. Curious is this is an original or replica DTM car.

After further research into other videos it seems this tire and wheel loss actually occurred during the qualifying laps prior to the actual race.
Those qualifying sequences can be seen in the following video starting at 21:38

It looks like they then repaired the car since it did actually compete in the race itself.
