Club Area division lines?
Club Area division lines?
Hi all,
I wonder what regional club groups are in central US for MO, KS, OK area? The groups seem to be essentially inactive if the posting dates are any indication.
Cheers

There's so few of these cars on the road any more, unless you're near a densely populated area you're most likely the only guy in town with one. Come to Carlisle in 2021 - we'll all be there!

We usedtacould have an active group of owners here in CO. I think we had 8 Merkurs(including my 3) at my place for a BBQ back when I lived in Mead, and still held regular BBQs the first weekend in Aug for Merkur/turboford folks. Haven't done much since I moved, and now with the e-mail list being basically dead(I haven't seen anything come across that in a long time). I have no clue who is still around locally other than myself, ghost, and wild bill. I do know of one in WY, but it's my dad, so I dunno if that really counts

Hi all,
I guess you could go cruise around in Lyons and an old college neighbor of mine would get excited to see a Merk running in the wild, so to speak.
I thought that there might be enough Merks in the KC to Tulsa area to try to get them to show up in Garnett, KS on October 19th at a gathering for a local race event in the past. Obviously we did not race there, SCCA sports cars did like my friends twin cam MGA, but it would be fun to have multiple of our cars at a meet for cool old cars. I am thinking of taking mine there as I have been working with him to get his MG ready for the reunion of old cars. I can be the back up car or just enjoy the drive and the meeting.
Cheers

Me too. There's about 10 of them in my town alone. I bet there's 50+ Merkurs within a 50 mile radius from where I'm at...75+ in a 100 mile radius. Ohio - its Merkur country.andyofcolumbusmerkur wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 5:51 pm I see the things parked all over the darn place.

There is an Iowa-Illinois Merkur Owner's Association.
The membership consists of me and the wife.
I put that logo on my windshield at car shows. A few people have gotten the joke and figured out that it's just us two.
The guy who has provided most of the car show music for many years in a large area of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin has told me that I am it.
I can be the 3rd car to roll into a show and he will very confidently announce that "This is the only one of these that you are going to see today!"

I think my one car has some paperwork showing it lived in Illinois for a bit.

Hi all,
I will be in Garnett, KS on the 19th of October when they have a vintage race reunion of some kind and maybe some vintage sports car racing. My friend with the MGA twin cam is getting his car ready for that event as it had been raced there in the past by a previous owner. I am planning to take the Merk, not the SVT, so it would be great if other Merks came as well. Many old cool cars will be there. Why not some of Colognes finest? Garnett is southwest of KC on Hwy 169 about 35 miles out from Olathe. Oh, fair warning, 169 is one long radar trap on weekends.
It would be a good drive from Denver, KC, Des Moines, Omaha, St. Louis, Dallas, Tulsa, etc...
Cheers

Nope. Some guy named Mark Dutkevitch in Indianapolis Indiana, North Carolina before that, now in Ohio.andyofcolumbusmerkur wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 7:06 pm I think my one car has some paperwork showing it lived in Illinois for a bit.

Re: Club Area division lines?
Ohio had quite a few Merkur dealers in the day. A quick count in the Merkur Dealership Directory shows 45 of the 700 as of 1988 in Ohio, 3 times the average per state.andyofcolumbusmerkur wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 5:51 pm I see the things parked all over the darn place.

There were a couple (even a scorp) going around all the time. But even those are gone now. I'm kinda kidding since the ones I see today are yours reese or cars parked at my Moms house or Mike Moms or friends house or his house on occasion. Even that other 89 XR around barberton is gone now. Seems he had problems with the local law enforcement? They didn't believe him it was some other white and yellow 1989 Merkur.

Hi all,
I had the date wrong for Garnett it seems. It is the 9th, 10th and 11th of October which means this weekend. I wonder if any Merks will be there?
Cheers
