XR4Ti RC Car

Post by andyofcolumbusmerkur »

Does anyone here have a radio controlled car that matches their actual car? I saw this clear body pop up on ebay and it got me thinking.

Tamiya are usually very good models, with precision forming. Would love to have that Eggenberger RS to build, or just see the kit. When I was a kid, did all the 1/72 scale WWI & WWII airplanes. Of course, when you're starting out, you get glue all over everything and resulting "molten" parts, but eventually you graduate to detail spraying, overlay camouflage, unit markings, etc. Car kits were hit or miss, with not many cool parts unless you were stepping up to the more expensive F1 type models (when Tamiya was first being brought in here). But, there was a least one very cool Ford GT40 Mark II (le Mans winner) that was really good, lot's of detail, and same with the Mark IV. Forget who made those, though. Not Revelle or AMT

I'm building the 1/24 "mini me" of my 87 XR with the Tamiya kit. Also using the 1/64 Hot Wheels Sierra to mimic my real one.

Also doing the Eggenberger Sierra Tamiya kit. Started it 25 years ago and have just recently pulled it up and getting going again.

Tamiya is quality beyond belief compared to the Monogram/Revell/AMT cars that I'm used to building.

I thought there was a 1/10 scale or 1/12 scale rc car (ready to run style) of that Eggenberger RS500 but I could only find the pics of the model.

I was searching for tamiya but should have been searching kyosho. Here's what I was talking about. They pop up for sale now and again.

Ahhh, the good old Optima Mid. I had a Turbo Optima. (difference was the motor was behind the rear wheels) It was AWD and had a 540 motor. Was blindingly fast. I got rid of it because it was a yellow brick road of chasing the weak points. I stopped at needing a $100+ digital speed controller.

I had the RC10 as a kid after destroying a radio shack and a couple tycos. I see these going for big bucks nowadays. Guess I never should have opened the box.

Please post up some pics of the 87 with mini me once it is completed. :cheers

Looks like I need the pictures on my phone to be hosted. I did that years ago with Photobucket. Then Photobucket changed their rules. I'm not doing it again.

Is there a way to just post the pics here without offsite hosting?

Click Attachment to upload photos from your 'puter or phone, then click Add Files. But you need to resize photos over ~2Megs.

I find I just resize photos using a resize app first before trying to upload them here.

YMMV

I’m aware of how it works. I don’t have the “Attachment” button.

Since I don’t pay for a membership, apparently my content is less important.

Everyone else’s loss, I guess.
