Neat idea, but I think with the loud pedal and the stick you can do better, and I drive in snow and hills and what not...if you tune and set up to the 7th degree rather than the n'th, you have good performance decent mileage and good controlability.
BCS's are best sold to civic turbo guys @ high ebay prices... so they can decide when the block or axle will crack.

forgive me i'm new. what's the loud pedal and stick? and what should one do instead of this seems like an inexpensive and effective way to use and item that other users have referred to as useless. Or is it possible to get that high an ebay price from the honda boys to be able to fund a better solution?

The accelerator and the gearshift...that's how i modulate boost in the snow...1 maybe two gears higher than usual keeps the boost and breakaway manageable.merkd-ya wrote:forgive me i'm new. what's the loud pedal and stick? and what should one do instead of this seems like an inexpensive and effective way to use and item that other users have referred to as useless. My other point is I/C'd and well tuned stock you can put out 17~18lbs of boost all day, why would you want LESS...at any time...the cars are more than controlable boostwise...I never get anymore than I want at any time. I think it's just too much concern for something that your brain can do much quicker. Even drag racing...if you manage the clutch properly you dont need a two step...

I've wired one of my XRs a la Munk's article, principally to have the ability to be able to manually control the BCS as he describes, although I'm not a leadfoot even in good&dry weather. It's simple, there's no downside, and since that XR is an auto, there's may be an upside (although it's also running a PE).

Munk's is a 5-speed. Mine's an auto.
Another potential advantage to this is if others drive your car (teenagers, e.g.), and the control switch isn't apparent or labeled, you can limit the boost level to 10lbs.
YMMV

It's also a poor man's regular-premium switch. You can probably run 87 octane at 10 psi boost levels in most cars.
Not a new concept, but a very sound one.

Yes it will improve fuel economy... at full throttle. If fuel economy is your goal then you shouldn't be seeing maximum boost, even if max was set to 5psi.merkd-ya wrote:for improved mileage- on a daily driver, i would run on low boost didn't know he had an auto though what's that
