Six Pack Special
There’s nothing like a good Six Pack, especially when it involves a CART track day. Pre-register and pay for six drivers at any one CART track event and receive a rebate for one entry. Get 5 of your friends, and you drive free, split it six ways, however you want to make it work. The rules: All six entries must be pre-paid and sent in together, either by mail or on the Six Pack PayPal link on the CART track day sign up site. Six entries must be paid for at the event to receive the rebate. The rebate will be paid by check at the event. The Six Pack offer expires two weeks before the event, late registrations will not be accepted for the discount. Cannot be combined with any other offer, decision of CART officials is final.

89 xr4ti, LOTS'O'MODS. PICS OF MY XR, FOLVO STUFF, AND...
Sorry, been away from the MCAF for a few days.
I have a few pictures, but a quick recap:
1. My wastegate actuator bracket developed a fatigue crack (must have happened @ autocross), resulting in less than stellar horsepower. I was only making 9-10psi instead of my normal 18psi. Given the fact i could actually look @ my gauges, i noticed it, then found the crack. In a typical "paddock" fix, I cable tied the actuator to the charge piping, and got my boost back, but it was a little more laggy than normal, but got me thru the day.
2. My lower T section for the lower radiator hose didn't have enough room btwn the bead and the drain, resulting in the lower radiator hose working itself off on my second session. Lesson learned. No harm to the car or the motor or to me, but I tell you this: Spraying your rear tires with coolant mid corner makes for some funny handling characteristics.
3. My truck did a fantastic job towing. I was really worried about it but in all honesty, my little inline 6 cyl carb'd F150 was outpulling my friend's 2000 F250 on some uphill sections... And his car is lighter than mine.
I am editing the in car down to two parts (youtube only allows 10 minutes and the vid is 19:30) but the raw version can be seen below in a .wmv format.
And i need front rotors. I found out that braking at 115mph shook the car violently. Mic'd em out, variation of -.007" on the FL and 0.005 on the FR. Not huge but i guess that it makes for entertaining braking at speed.
I use SVT focus front rotors available @ tire rack for $55 each plus shipping. Should be here tomorrow.
I also ordered a fresh set of tires. Toyo R888 in 275/40/17. How much do you think a set of 275/40/17 V710's are worth? They have easily the rest of the season on them, but they're old (5 years). Stored inside the past two seasons, but that's as long as i've had them.
taken by a friend of mine, and also a CP competitor. This is just over the uphill coming under the bridge for the downhill righthander.
Actually, his car is behind me, driven by his co-driver; who passed me immediately after this picture (wastegate actuator bracket broke, resulting in me having about 150whp less than normal... my car is slow as **** with no boost), i then followed him and learned a better line, so that was good.
Gorgeous '65 stang. The exhaust note is ... badass.
I found out by the end of the day i could take that w/o braking... making for some impressive top end on the straight. If my speedometer is accurate, and i know it isn't (oversized tires), I had an indicated 115-120mph, which isn't bad.
Azenis held up pretty well. Here we see coolant.
Back home, i removed the offending T that i had built - not enough room btwn the bead and the drain bung resulted in the hose working itself loose, mid corner... ugh.
Revised cooling setup: No more T. Therefore no more failure point.
T moved to the "automatic" style, into the water pump inlet. I noticed refilling (with water) that it refills a lot quicker than the other setup. *shrug*
Another issue i have been having is that goddamned valve cover breather. Talking to some other XR race guys, they suggested "just removed the damned PCV - it's not a street car!" so i took their advice and built and installed a catch can for the valve cover breather and PCV. In true grassroots style, We have...
I'm not a big fan of bud light, but the blue aluminum matches my fuel pressure regulator and fuel rail.
And i also picked up a backup camera for my truck from another autocross guy. Pretty trick little device.
(yes, that's a 6 disc in dash out of a focus in my truck there.)
Video my friend made (of his 1965 CP car)
I'm only in it for a bit, but you get more of a feel for LRP.

Here is one of that gorgeous 1965 stang chasing me down and passing me... in my defense i was down about 100whp because my friggin' wastegate actuator bracket had a crack and i was only making 10psi instead of my normal 18-19psi.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjSupZdh ... r_embedded
(once i fixed that with some cable ties - it's rebuilt properly now but i didn't have my welder there) he didn't pass me again. I was like "man, my car is SLOW! Looked over, saw 10psi, and said "damn...." That was also first session so i was still learning the line. So please dont make too much fun of how poorly i was driving.
Anyway, enjoy the sounds of that stang.

The vibration is the camera itself. It's directly mounted to my harness bar. Gives a nice sense of speed. This in car is after i "fixed" my wastegate actuator bracket.
Everything on the car except the rotors is fixed. The PCV system has been removed and just vents to my custom super grassroots catch can.
I met Phil from PM motorsports and for the life of me I cant remember the guy in the red car's name. Both were wicked nice guys and it was a blast talking to them. Good thing about breaking your car: more time to shoot the $#!* with good people. I also helped fix my friend's 1989 mustang GT so he could run his last session. He had a wiring problem, which... well, that's my thing.
Monticello is next month but it's on a friday, so i doubt I can make it.
Next autocross is this sunday - i'll be back with a vengeance.

Time trials were held after i put my car on the trailer so no exact times. Looking at the footage maybe a 1:09? Hard to tell.
In my run group there were 12 cars. The other two run groups had 20.
After second session (when my car decided my day was over); we had time trials, then our third session. FTD was a 1:00.2.
Sorry about posting twice there , i dont know what i was thinking.
Since i was running Session C (novice) we were only allowed to pass on the main straight. Session B and A were allowed to pass on no name straight, which is after the S's, before the uphill). I went for some ride alongs with REALLY good drivers in faster cars than mine. What an eye opening experience. 8 or 9 seconds faster than what you're running doesn't sound like much, but remember, that's like 12% faster all around. Crazy cornering speeds.
At any rate, i did order a new set of R888's so...

when i did skip barber in '06, me driving in the open wheel formula dodge, i could not keep up with the srt neon the instructor was driving- we got to 110ish on the straight, but my class only had 4 people so we got a lot of track time.
new 888's?
there's your lemons money unfortunately we did get 2 more drivers, one from the team i was on last year and a friend of the captain.
