Puget Sound area get-together, Jan 17, 2009

Post by worked_xr »

Okay, I'm officially suggesting a get-together for Jan 17, 2009. I'll post more info as I get it, but post up if you're interested or will be attending. For now I was thinking we could do something in coincidence with the NWMotoring.com New Year Kickoff Meet on Jan 17. It's being held at the Alki boat launch in West Seattle. This is easily reached from I-5 north or south, and by ferry into the Fauntleroy terminal. It's also convenient to visiting JVAB, which is always an informative experience.

Here's the link and details:

Vincent and I are doing a go-kart enduro with the Alfa Romeo Club from noon to three but I'll check in after that and maybe meet up at John's.

Sounds good... Hey, is Vincent doing kart racing now? If so, we gotta talk... I'm curious about getting Maxwell started eventually.

Unfortunately there is no $ for a racing kart. We're just doing an enduro with the club down at Sykart.

Still sounds like a ton of fun... I'm gonna need some extra money to get the kids karting too. One day though...

I've seen a bunch for sale on craigslist, I'm gonna get one for my kids this summer but I need to find out more info on it, sometimes you can buy the frames for dirt cheap and buy the motors online.

When: Saturday - Jan 17, 2009
What: Puget Sound PNWMON get-together, huge NWMotoring.com meet
Where: Alki & JVAB

Okay, the weather is looking promising and there are lots of people planning to attend the meet on Alki, so for anyone interested, here's my tentative plan for Saturday's get-together:

* 11am-noon, meet, maybe grab a quick lunch
* 12pm, proceed to the NWMotoring.com gathering on Alki (http://merkursport.com/index.php?showtopic=14306)
* 1-2 or 3pm, enjoy the meet on Alki
* 2-3pm, proceed to JVAB and get an eyeful of Johns goodies, and maybe meet some Volvo guys.
* from here you're on your own... maybe we can get some dinner.

Now, I'm open to suggestions for the initial meeting place, but I've been talking to some other car folks in north Seattle, and there will be a pre-meet gathering on the top floor of the Northgate Mall parking garage at 12 noon. The mall food court is right there, as is Red Robbin (burgers & fries), and there are lots of other decent restaurants in the area as well.

Any input from anyone seriously considering attending greatly appreciated.

Always glad to see the Capri anyway. BTW, what parts are you waiting on?
