Custom 1990 Lotus Esprit with every upgrade you can imagine.

Car is located in Portland Oregon.

This is a totally re-engineered and upgraded Esprit SE that handles better than a late-model V8 and resolves many of the reliability issues of this generation of Lotus. Flawless fit and finish, better than factory, with a custom interior to match.

I am the third owner. The car was built by someone who worked for Lotus USA and was his project while completing an automotive engineering and design degree. The starting point was a damaged 30,000 mile 1990 SE that was hit in the driver's side rear corner. Damage was limited to the body and a few bent suspension components on that corner - that is the reason for the salvage title. First, the body was removed from the frame. The engine & transmission were removed. Everything that was damaged was replaced then massive upgrades were done that are listed in detail below.

The endpoint is a fully reconditioned and re-engineered John Welch tuned 400 BHP lightweight Supercar with the look of a late-model V8 and over $50,000 added in parts, paint and labor. This car easily has thousands of man hours on the restoration/rebuild/upgrades. This car was the result of letting an engineer go wild with every resource available to him - CAD, laser fab, and too much time and $$.

Other:
While I owned the car, I have installed a larger bore clutch master cylinder for better shifting. Also, because the pilot bearing went out, the clutch was removed. In the process, the disk was damaged and so the shop replaced the clutch disk and pressure plate along with a new pilot bearing for free.

I also replaced the air conditioning receiver/dryer and changed everything over to R134a.
