I think Ed is "glare hypersensitive". Got sun glasses?

Ed is glare aware.
Dean has a blind spot for glare awareness
Dean's rods may be abnormally insensitive or vitamin deficient. Ed recommends more carrots and sweet potatoes in Dean's diet.
Dean has a blind spot in his inability to uh see the latent market for my product, among many owners of other makes as well as Scorpios. If he built it, they would uh see they need and want it, adding profits (alas taxable...) to his pockets.
YMMV

Re: 3d models for components of XR4ti and Scorpio
I'd do better selling 3d printed fog light covers or steering column grommets.
Let's face it Ed. The Scorpio market amounts to, at most, about ten people.
Not to mention I wouldn't want to upset the esthetics of the Scorpio dash design for a purpose I have never perceived as required.
It would be like installing deer whistles, curb feelers. or one of those crank knobs on the steering wheel.
Have you tried sunglasses? I don't drive anywhere without my sunglasses. I don't even go outside without my sunglasses.
In fact, I might venture to say that this is a possible reason for our discrepancy on this issue.

The difference between us here is I daily drive a Scorpio so I see direct and indirect sunlight on shiny dash pieces from various directions in a typical day.

It must be a very specific time of day and orientation to the sun where this is bothering you.
Because as I have been driving the car the past few weeks I've been attentive and I don't see a problem. I drove yesterday afternoon with the sun sort of low and thought I might notice something but I didn't.

You doubt too much.
This guy gets how to create a niche market for a product some didn't know they needed...and wanted:

Ahhh...I see. Your photo is like Harrison Ford in "The Raiders of the Lost Ark" when he is in the map room when the sun comes through a tiny hole in the roof at a certain time of day and is directed through a crystal on a staff. Yeah, that happens very often.
More importantly Ed, I see no way how a shade mounted above the cluster would prevent the glare you present in that photo. The light is coming in from the lower left!
I'm sorry Ed, you will have to improvise your own solution, no market and no real problem here.

Midday sun. DST (so 11:30 a.m.). Not yet the depth of winter with midday sun barely above the horizon. So not coming from the "lower left".
Note that the sharp line at the top of the glare is my mockup shade (see photo earlier above) reducing what otherwise would have been larger glare. My mockup essentially is proof of its concept for reducing glare.

Taken today almost exact same time as prior photo above, one week later.
Note the sharp vertical and horizontal delineation between glare and no-glare at lower left IP showing my first mock up IP shade works.

Ed's daily driver mileage total for 7 days. O miles recorded.
I don't care what anyone else says The A-Team was the best show on TV. Better even than the scrambled channel which was also pretty ok.

The comparison of your photo to a scene from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is quite imaginative! Addressing the glare issue effectively might require a personalized solution. It seems a shade above the cluster might not mitigate the glare from the lower left, prompting the need for an improvised, personalized fix.brokencase wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 6:17 pm Ahhh...I see. No glare mitigation mod need be 100% efficient to be very effective for most operators of Scorpios.Aarav wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 2:26 amThe comparison of your photo to a scene from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is quite imaginative! My mockup is doing the job for easily 75-80% of distracting/disturbing glare situations, and I can tweak it to block maybe 5-10% of those remaining at issue in certain circumstances during lower sun angles.
Brokencase may think he's immune to glare from Scorpio IPs-he's not, he just has a mental blind spot.., and he's also overlooking the likely latent marker for this product in the Continent among Granada/Scorpio operators who might not have thought about addressing this issue but would leap at buying a glare deflector once they learned of its availability at modest cost with super easy installation.
YMMV

Ed's gauge shade...
The wooden part in the middle is a pacifier... While it may quiet him down, it won't stop him from typing on the keyboard.
