Well, that Eaton LSD you have pictured definitely isn't the differential Brian Rasey blew up recently. Have a look at the one he installed:

I'm not sure why your springs aren't yellow, but they don't look blue to me either :P

Grayson, if you look at the top spring, there is a dab of blue paint. both have something like this.

I see the problem in the first photo, it seems your gear oil has become magnetized and it's pulling bits of your spider gears out of alignment.

Kind of like when all the magic smoke comes out of your electrical system.
Electronics won't work when they run out magic smoke.

back on track, nice upgrade.

is there a way to get replacement spider gears for the euro 7.0" lsd? i'd like to rebuild it and either sell it off, or have it as a spare.

just spent over an hour scrubbing the outside of my stock case. wire brush. purple power. hose.

i think i'm just gonna borrow my neighbor's pressure washer when he gets in from the races (he owns a race team for the roundy round stuff)

darren -

Radio Shack now stocks replacement smoke, but it's a bitch to get back in.

Ray - you might want to check to see if a set of spider gears out of a stock diff will coincidentally fit the Euro 7" LSD. It's not impossible I suppose.

Wouldn't the cone style be the Auburn and not the Eaton?

Well, I think GM made some stock diffs that were cone-style too, so it's not necessarily an Auburn if it is a cone-style. Brian has an autocross this weekend, but I've offered to help him identify it when he has some time.

I would be interested in that blown up 7" diff if you decide to get rid of it.

Frag - hEaT already expressed interest, but if he doesn't want it (and i decide to not keep it as a working spare) get in touch with me.

I'm going to try to source some spider gears and rebuild it.

Today i pressure washed the case, and painted it flat black (omg wow). In addition, i also did the same to the stock case, and painted that ford blue (blue adds fast). Then reinstalled the stock diff in the car (mc2racing stub axle bolts kick ass), refilled with some gear oil, and got the car off stands. When i get the rest of the parts together i'll pull the stock diff BACK out, then install the eaton, then reinstall. oi!
