Glad you were able to get out and see what he had!
nzwinrz wrote:I did, but while looking through his photos I didn't come across this car. Is there another way to reach him.

I drove down to Hubbard, Tx Sat to check one out, looks promising but before I pull the trigger would like to see if Bart still has that one available.

Thanks for the support, I wasn't ready to give up on having the best power/handling/looking XR4Ti I could build. So couple wk-ends back I removed door, cut it open and savaged all the internals, removed the pass Recaro, inspected for damage, just the sliders mounts bent. Cut the door sill to relieve the pressure the A pillar was applying on the dash, minor cracks on the lower plastic portion around glove box. Pushed the sill down enough to remove the battery cables that run down under the kick plate. Went ahead and removed the VIN in case I chose to adopt a not titled car.

Chose to try and remove the arches, the RR was already loose due to impact. Took a plumbers knive to the top edge and hammered away. Like getting a very large emblem off, took some time but got all off intact.

Asked my friend with body shop if my front bumper could be repaired, said if I have all the pieces. Most are there, couldn't account for a quarter size piece above the right fog, but in area that's hard to see. I removed the metal back bone to relieve the bent form, allowing the bumper to be relaxed. Then put some aluminum straps to hold it all in place till I repair it.

Here is the after math behind the front bumper... hard to see but pass side hood/fender is 3/4inch lower

You can read more about it by starting at the top of thread...but here's a shot in 1985 when I had gotten the chassis rolling but have yet to install the engine. The Merk you see is a 85' I had just bought new..$16k edited wasn't 22k that was the '89 Saleen

Thanks for the admiration...now updates on the Merk hunt...first the cheap stuff. Picked up this '85 from Don Battle in Hubbard Tx. For $100, worth its weight in parts, but was a candidate for the transplant. Will have enough left over parts from the other car(RED '87 in Pa) to get this one back on the road, undecided as when that will happen. Car hasn't been registered since '96, front turn signal had a family nest of 30-40 wasps. Trashed but body straight, Don robbed the engine and trans, no loss there.

Cut core support to easily rob engine, he didn't plan on filing for lost title, has some regrets!
