Plans are still on for my Vacation trip(end of April) to Hershey, Pa. This one's going to cost me some dinero...2600 mile round trip, using a Ford F250 Super Duty. Gave up on the idea of paying to haul, to much of the car will be in boxes or tossed in car/truck. So I'm taking a week to make the trip(by myself), stop off in Huntsville Al to visit my older brother and my sister is 1hr off Interstate 81 in West Virginia.

Now for pics of this RED beauty... Price $2500+gas, food and lodging

Paint work in these pics is 3yrs old, new windshield after....project forgotten but not dead yet...

New front Glass :headbang

Picture this with my RED top Cosworth YB

Cosworth Grill and oem arches w/jacking covers 8)

Extra engine, trans, hood, doors, hatch from a '88

Not pictured are new Sachs, Sierra Headlamps, Cosworth sway bars f/r :cheers , urethane bushing for car, grey leather interior, new windshield installed after paint...
Forgot to mention, get Cosworth rear quarter glass and interior pieces with the deal! :D

....some assembly required...to say the least. I think the paint alone is worth the $2.5k

The only down side.....its Arrest Me RED

Thanks, its a whole lot of red, plan on throwing in some Euro Black accents. I want to play around with photoshop and go retro, blacken out Cosworth- bumpers, arches, follow down side of doors as well as rear bumper. The '85-86 looked longer/leaner with the black skirts, once you color match the car looks taller.

I agree - XR's tend to look best in white, but that red isn't bad at all. Body looks in great shape.

I used two car covers from Huntsville, Al to Texas to better protect the paint. The trip from Pa to Al only hade one and the wind buffing caused some paint damage, but its going to be covered by the lower door cladding.

No cover from Hershey Pa to my sisters cabin/home in West Virgina, 3.5hr drive after a 6hr loading.

Image

Then from her house to my brothers in Alabama, 10hrs
Image
Image

Then threw on another cover to protect the first from buffing..11hrs to home

Filled the car as much as possible, then the truck, stuff that wouldn't or couldn't fit in the car, extra from his parts car
Image

after a point I started a garbage pile of stuff leaving behind, look to the right of garage...seats, headliners, radiators, the worst of the 2 cars, oem fender, and door sills, bumpers(one that I needed for parts..dummie). I needed another truck.
Image

Also left behind the extra hood, doors, hatch

Never had wheel liners that didn't fall apart, new Spax for rear, engine and trans extra

Image

Red Koni struts+F&R lowering springs from the '88 parts car, Cosworth front sway bar
Image

Lots of bits in the boxes, 2 sets of nice/not cracked or bulging tail lights, takes my total set count to 6sets, 4 used, 1new from Argintina, 1 1/5 new Ford sets from England/Germany

Went and bolted on my 18" Comps to see how they'd look, will do same with white 17" Comps later after the Sapphire suspension set up on the old car goes on.
Image
Notice the car has Sierra sills and fenders, no XR cladding bump...
Image

Popped in the headlights that came with it, nice Cibie set, RHD but I've got several LHD sets

Part of the 6hr to load was deciding what to take, how to take it, install sunroof, door glass, wing, the front bumper(parts for red one), lower sound dampening, carper, consoles, seats, RS arches and the painted bumpers had to be protected from all other items.
This is what I started with..
Image
Image
Image
Image
Also left behind a fairly nice Borla exhaust...look just behind the trailer...wanted to take it but after 6hrs I was thinking with a short fuse..so sue me...
