Just got a '86 Merkur

I'm new to the forum and Merkurs, I learned about this '86 that was torn apart 4 years ago and has sat ever since in 3 separate garages. I studied a little about the cars and was intriqued by what I learned. I went back almost 6 months later and purchased the car. The previous owner was turning it into a autocross car and unexpectedly died, no one knows why he took everything apart or what's good or not and I'm unsure if it's all there. I plan on rebuilding the engine to stock, I will use the car for some autocrossing and for errands around town. I don't want to hack up the body because it's a neat looking car (except for the front end) and somewhat rare. I linked to some pictures, these show the state of the car before I did any work, the engine was apart but came with a stand :) I'll try to add updates!

Fun project!

Nice crank pulley as well.
1987 Merkur XR4Ti. T5 swapped. GAZ gold coilovers. Custom rear strut brace. Polybushed everything. Mustang ten hole wheels. Mercury Tracer front bumper.

Getting engine parts should not have been this tough!

Finally got enough parts to get block and heads back from machine shop.

The car cleaned up quite nice :D

Mike may have died in the middle of a project, but I can guarantee that the car you picked up is in very good shape. It's a good purchase.

Sweet! The paint looks to be in great shape. Were the Mustang turbine style wheels part of the deal? I like the way they look with our cars.

The stock valve springs was the toughest to get, I wanted to replace all 8 but could only get 4 :(
