Pontiac G8 ST (aka El Camino) Officially Killed
This is not really news - it's been rumored for months that it was killed off, but now it's official. Can the Pontiac badge overall be far behind?

?
Damn.
I was going to buy one, too.
NOT.
There sure is some witty humour on Jalopnik...
A quote from the comments...
So sad. Time for a country song.
Holden Ute, by Gretchen Wilson
I don't need Chevy to drown out the pain
Or some F-150 to hold off the rain
Don't have a crossover that holds all my wares
All that I need is right here
Holden Ute holds me together
When holding on gets just a little too hard
With no tire grip, I travel
I lift and unravel then I feel like
some snap oversteer
Holden Ute holds me together

I was going to buy one, too.

NOT.

Just cause I found it on Jalpnik...and I thought that Brazilian Sierra ad was cheezy:

(conjures up images of Brad, on the loose, in the Pontiac lot, with his cordless Saws-all... In a scientist's lab coat, hair looking like Christopher Loyd, in Back to the future II)
On second thought, I appreciate the offer Brad, but I'll pass.

And now it's back on, as the El Camino it should have been....
http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2010/01/gm ... -says.html
Mark Reuss, General Motors' newly installed president of GM North America, says the Holden VE Ute may still come to the U.S. If it does, it could wear the famed Chevrolet El Camino badge.
Reuss raised hopes for a resurrected El Camino during an interview at the North American International Auto Show.
In January 2009, GM killed plans to sell the Ute as a Pontiac.
“I think another brand with the Ute would be pretty attractive,â€Â

First, a the Ute is much better fit to the Chevy lineup than it did Pontiacs, since Chevy was always more of GM's utility brand. Just because the VE platform was under the G8 already didn't mean the other VE import had to be a Pontiac also.
It's interested that since Henderson is gone all these changes in direction. It makes you wonder which way Maximum Bob would go if he had complete control?

When I think utility and GM, I think GMC... Chevy to me means economy-- except for the Corvette, which, like any other GM car, would look just fine with a plain-old GM badge riveted to its bee-hind.
This is my car, and these are my people!
