How many motorcycle riders on here?

Post by espacef1fan »

It seems like most people I run into on TF or here are interested in or ride dirtbikes/motorcycles. I thought it was kind of interesting.

Guilty.
Once upon a time, there were 5 or 6 XRs here at any given time. Now there's 2, but there's 6 bikes.
7 if you count the "parts bike" for the DT200. DTs are like XRs. Same vintage, cult following, and parts don't grow on trees.

Pretty cool. The only chopper I would want besides that one is one of the radial engine powered choppers.

I dont like choppers so those must be pretty cool for me to want.

1978 Kawasaki KZ650SR. The dealers were only allowed to sell one for each 50 bikes they sold. so I imagine it is a pretty rare bike. Haven't driven it much the last 20+ years since I moved from a rural area to a suburban one and had kids.

me... I'm a motorcycle rider.

I used to ride a lot with friends and stuff, until I seen a lot of bad things happen.. now I just commute, because I get 50 miles per gallon.

I have 48,000 miles on my bike, and I bought it brand new in 2010... it was a 2009 katana.

I've had my 82 CB650 for a few years now. Just moved to a town at the center of two very busy highways so I find myself not riding at all. Sitting in traffic on a motorcycle blows and I try to be a law abiding citizen so no breakdown lane riding for me(except one 90 degree night in dead stopped traffic when my bike was overheating and even then, it was a 5mph cruise.) I've since tuned it better but that whole experience turned me off from getting on the highway. My commute is 45mins to an hour with 30 minutes in stop and go, no thanks :( 55mph backroads is where its at for me if I can ever find some time.

I just picked up a 150cc 2006 Bajaj Chetak scooter(vintage vespa licensed knockoff from india) with a 4speed manual handlebar grip shifter and a sidecar a few months ago. It's a hoot for me and my old lady around town and the manual shifter helps make it an engaging ride.

Used to, had a 2004 Yamaha R6 for a while. Got sick of the sport bike scene (track days were the only real fun). Ended up getting a '85 Honda CB550SC Knighthawk in CA, but the new requirements to ride while on that coast (in the Marine Corps) became ridiculous. I got it when it barely ran and fixed it up pretty well. Ended up selling it back to the guy...it was funny how timing works out. He was happy it remained the same, just tuned/cleaned up properly. I do want to end up with another 80's Honda, either a 550 or a 650. In the FL panhandle right now.

I ride a 1989 PC-800 (rode a 1990 model 145K, then bought the '89).

Everything he says is true;
