Perhaps your concern about starting a new thread is well-founded. Perhaps when it hits you that if you make a certain post it may be deleted, that is an indicator that you shouldn't post. What does it mean to anyone around here that you have now seen a Camry V6 with a manual transmission? I'm really not trying to be mean here, just trying to be realistic.

Just remember that people are here because they share a common interest. However, what you find interesting probably doesn't mean a thing to most people on this forum. I have an interest landscaping, but just because I see someone's well landscaped property with some new and unusual landscaping methods doesn't mean that I am going to post about it here. I'm not going to subject 1300 subscribers to my thoughts on landscaping. I'll do that elsewhere, in an appropriate outlet.

If you want to chat, hang out in the chat room and start encouraging people to join you there. Those that would like to chat with you certainly will.

Alex is destroying this forum. It seems that many of the active (or formerly active) members here have either scaled back their usage or completely ceased to visit the forum. On the other Merkur forum, where Alex has been banned, we are now able to carry on discussions without constantly being interrupted with indecipherable gibberish and stupid, pointless posts. Care to allow us the same luxury here, Brad?

alex reminds me of the retards in special ed when they put me in special ed for 1 week when i was in the 6th grade.

i was put there because i behaved bad... not cuz i was retarted though.....

it was kinda like a "scared straight" tactic... all those retards were alot tougher than me.. and they made me do their homework and sh*t...

I think I'm going against the grain here for once LOL.

This is the off topic room...where we should all know by now that is the place where AD should be doing 95% of his posts. It's off topic, it's not in the GD room so I'm guessing everything and anything in this room will be 99% BS?

I'm not for him or really much against him but, my comment is more aimed at the purpose of the room? Or am I thinking it should be something else? It is off topic no?

It was hoped that the Off-Topic Forum would be for intelligent discussion of periphal subjects which may or may not be related to Merkurs or cars, but of interest to us as a community of friends, and in recognition of the value of those friendships... so it's only as good as we make it. Thus, things like gas prices, political observations, wishing you a Merry Christmas, and how the Seahawks are kicking ass could be commented upon here.

It could be we might make do with less-- I see no problem with combining this and the GD Forum into one-- but neither do I have any objection to the classification as it is. I see no dearth of categories on other Fora, which in some circumstances obfuscates the process of perusal. Less is often more, and I think that applies to pointing and clicking as well as anything else.

Ok, so a quick question then.
What is the GD room for? (Is it still GD about Merkurs?)It should be exactly what you just described. The Off topic room should be for random BS.That's just my thoughts on it.
Merry Christmas, and the Seahawks have just been lucky, A win against the Colts was just a fluke. LOL.

Admittedly, in the middle of my last post I was backing off of my own previous assertions. My backing-down stemmed from the fact that I was replying to a pointless post in the Off-Topic area. Ironically, the thread I made reference to was not in the Off-Topic area, so it was fair game.

I'm going to agree with Erik on the issue that the Off-Topic area is the place for AlexD to post mindless stuff. I've just recently started paying more attention to the Off-Topic area, and that is likely my problem. I'll just stay out.

There doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the Off-Topic and General Disucssion sections. Too many forums and you'll spend all day browsing around them or miss threads. Too few and there is too much mindlessness where it doesn't belong. In fact, I'm curious about the difference between the XR/Scorp sections and the Technical section on the MSF. (I figure I'll sorta pose this question, since Erik is paying attention to this thread.) I've always felt that TurboFord.org.net.whatever and Peter Denbigh's buddies' www.mmsports.org/forum/ had a pretty good balance between too many and too few options.

i think with Alex, it's mostly a case of how you look at it. i went from not minding him at all, to being extremely annoyed and occasionally very frustrated with him, to basically neutral. i actually enjoy sitting back and watching him make a fool of himself. i can read past his posts, it doesn't bother me that much. it's pretty hilarious overall.

i've also never seen an insult battle as good as the one between erik and lijew on that one thread. "which forsooth hath no affinity for the 'seat' of your domain..." man, i was rolling.... and all that came about cuz of mr. d.

i love this forum. it's far and away the nicest forum i've ever used... except for the LAME smilies

. layout is great, and i think the forum separation is perfect. i see it as the GD thread is about random stuff still concerning cars, OT is for random stuff about anything.

i really enjoy this forum, it's what makes me wanna be a part of the merkur community. you guys are awesome!

So JB, you following the Seahawks pretty closely? They are rockin'!!!

This is LONG overdue! I found it interesting that Dwight Freeney couldn't even budge Walter Jones, and also that the Indianapolis starting defense couldn't stop the Seattle offense. The hawks were on top even while Manning and the rest of the starters were in.
