The Official "What Does it Weigh" Thread
If you weigh something, post the results here. I (we) would appreciate a reasonably scientific approach to your measurements. In other words, don't post that a wheel weighs xxx pounds, but there is a tire attached. If you do measure it like that, also specify that there is a tire on it, what size the tire is and maybe even the brand and model.
What I'll do, as I have time, is condense all the data that you provide into a single post, categorized if/as necessary, that way you don't have to hunt for data. Would anybody really be looking for this information besides me?
So, that's the purpose of this thread. Now I'll kick off the thread officially by making the first post containing data.

Rear hatch (complete) 65 lbs
Sheet metal surrounding hatch including rear panel ~30 lbs
All 4 rear side windows w/ gaskets 16 lbs (4 lb ea)
Sunroof 12 lbs
Sunroof assembly including tray, sliders, etc ~18 lbs
All tar mats ~30 lbs (the stuff applied directly to the body)
I've got a bunch more stuff removed at this point - enough to fill a projection TV box - a pound here, a pound there, pretty soon you've removed half a ton!
Weight is the enemy - believe it!

Not as much as I thought, but if I can save 20-30 lbs I might try to adapt a race weight fiberglass hood from another car (like an early fox body Mustang). USBody.com currently (as of 08/2010) has a number of fiberglass hoods on sale for $100 each (no shipping available), and I can drive up and pick it up easily enough. Now I just need to figure out what might make the best donor.anglin wrote:North American-spec XR4Ti hood, without sound deadening liner, with emissions control sticker holder - 34.5 lbs
Re: The Official "What Does it Weigh" Thread
And now the Euro Sierra hood weight has been updated.

Re: The Official "What Does it Weigh" Thread
I'm not going to have any weight numbers for the stuff I took off my XR. Things I've found over the years but if you haven't taken off your XR yet, you maybe surprised.
1. gas tank plastic cover
2. gas tank diff. shield
3. go to the 85 power booster from the 89 booster
4. intake manifold that has been ported by bo-port (and you take off the little extra tabs)
5. 89 interior is light then the 85's 7.5 lbs
6. partial tray 11.5 lbs
7. dog bone bell housing, direct pull bell housing. DBB housing is 3.25 lbs lighter
8. aluminum SVO head 33 lbs lighter then stock steel head
9. Shorai LFX lithium battery 6.5 lbs
10.
So my not sure about the whole T9 T5 thing but I just weighed the T5 I have and 82.5 lbs W/bell housing, fork, stock shifter.
