Yeah lots will fit like the 2wd Cossie, and the 4wd Cossie and the SVT Fucus, they all fit perfectly.

Well the parts store wanted like 85$ a rotor, and i heard thunderbird ones fit and there cheaper. But ya caliper fitment problems

I sent you a PM today cause you never came down, what's the que paso on the build deal??

I have just done a run of 28 aluminum hats or bells so we CAN do big herking 1 1/4" thick, 283mm diameter discs and alloy 4 pots directly onto the Xratty front spindle, and if'n you'd come and visit you could BORROW front rotors till you could do the upgrade..

And all joking aside, there ain't an easy diddle.
And the Tbird rears are way small, not worth the bother...

I'd upload some piccies of the new stuff except "BC Boy Skye" set up some stoopid password I can't remember to the upload thing> and nobody has heard a peep for weeks from him.

Alrighty folks. This one has been asked enough times to get moved to the FAQ section. I just need to get input from folks as a sort of "peer review."

I'm of the belief that the Merkur XR4Ti has OEM front brake rotors unique to it and only it in North America. I'm also of the belief that the Merkur Scorpio has OEM front brake rotors unique to it and only it in North America. All of the PN evidence I have seen supports this claim. I've never seen any cross reference info on them.

Layman's terms... if you want front brake rotors for your Merkur, you're going to have to ask for front brake rotors for a Merkur.

Before I go posting my "opinion" to the FAQ section, I'd love to get folks "in the know" to acknowledge the accuracy of, or correct the errors in, my statement above.

I got the nice dimpled and slotted EBC rotors from Phil for that price point (less, I believe, at the time). And yes, they do work very well.

Ok since we're on this topic, has anyone used the SVT Focus front brakes on an XR? I currently have Cosworth Escort 278mm rotors and single piston calipers (looks alot like the SVT Contour one) and wanted to upgrade to something larger and more readily available here. The XR caliper will bolt up to my Cosworth spindle so I'm hoping the upgrades are interchangeable.

I THINK other (SVT, Cossie blah blah) rotors will actually fit but only work with corresponding caliper changes and brackets etc...the stock rotors are indeed unique unless one wants to make other changes..

I've offered up the HUGE SVT FUCUS rotors to both 2wd Cos and 4wd Cossie knuckles and yeah the FIT center and studs but the centerline offset is screwy.

There are progressively deeper hats on Ford Sierra based discs w the deepest being 2wd Cos, then Xratty, then the much flatter 4wd Cos, SVT Contour, SVT Fucus.

The flatter hats bring caliper OUTBOARD wheel interfereance issues with them, doubly so when using nice 4 piston calipers.

Just what are you specifically trying to do with your brakes??
(it's very likely I've been trying to do something the same for about 8 years)

I have an XR with the Cosworth AWD setup including brakes and suspension. I want to upgrade the front brakes and at the same time get something that I can buy off the shelf here. The SVT Focus brakes seems to be the most logical and cost effective choice.

I compared the SVT Contour rotors with mine and the hats are the only difference, in fact when I needed front pads I ordered a set for a Contour.

What you got?

Here's Xratty and 2wd Cossie:

Here's 2wd Cossie, JVAB Gravel Spec, and stock Xratty:

Here's 2wd Cossie and 4wd Cossie (note the extreme shallow hat):

And this is it for now:

More later, but folks, these are cheaper than you think.
it's all about how many I can afford to do at one time, there is very nearly
$20 of chips carved out of each hat.

Isn't the center-bore 57mm on those, same as the wheels?
