My first year at Carlisle ('99), I slept in my car Sunday night at the Fairgrounds and then went junkyarding on the way home Monday. It was kindy creepy, seeing the place turned into a ghost-town around me within just a couple hours. Once was enough for me - I don't think I need to do that again.

thats why you just sleep in the parking lot where all the other merkurs are staying... it would be like having a guard outside lolDPDISXR4Ti wrote:My first year at Carlisle ('99), I slept in my car Sunday night at the Fairgrounds and then went junkyarding on the way home Monday. I tented in '05 - I just drove back across town to the campground after the parking lot festivities wound down. Last year I just laid out a couple of blankets in the back of the Previa. Sounds like the hotel is quite a bit further away from the showfield this year, and I'm not driving the Previa... so I'll probably need to get a room.
So... if I reserve a room and give 'em my credit card info, do I get billed immediately or will they bill me upon checkout on Sunday?

Not until checkout, HOWEVER, unlike in previous years, if for any reason you need to cancel your reservation, it must be cancelled 2 or more days previous to the reservation. Note that this is different from most hotel reservations where you can usually cancel up until 4PM on the day of the reservation; needs to be 48+ hours advance notice here.Colin wrote:So... if I reserve a room and give 'em my credit card info, do I get billed immediately or will they bill me upon checkout on Sunday?
And yea, you're right Colin, we're going to be about 13 miles away from the fairgrounds this year; not quite as far away as the Raddison, but certainly nowhere near as close as the Hotel Carlisle.

But the backroads to get there from the fairgrounds are a lot of fun!DPDISXR4Ti wrote:Colin wrote:

Then you'll like the back way into Carlisle that we take from this hotel. We'll have maps printed up, but basically it's Rt. 944 that you want to get to.GeneticRehab wrote:How much better is this hotel over the Carlisle hotel? I like twisty roads.
As for the hotel itself, all the rooms have recently been refurbished, so I trust we won't have the "bug issues" like we had at the Hotel Carlisle. The parking lot is nicely configured for hanging out. There's a very popular sports-bar on premises - you'll get a drink coupon when you arrive.
Other than that, well, it's a Holiday Inn. Don't expect a mint under your pillow at night.
