cool the car that would tag along would be a SVO so the heart is in the right place, but we just might have to give him a little hell on the trip

What day will everyone be in St. Louis? Us mid south guys are going to have to meet up with everyone there. I'm trying to plan out my trip. From what I heard. The convoy leaves Thursday morning from St. Louis. That means that Wed. I'll have to drive up to St. Louis and stay the night? What time will the convoy be leaving? I may just drive up in the middle of the night to save a day of work and money...Anyone else from the AR, OK, TX, MO area can chime in!

I don't know how stuff is piecing together west of Ohio but the Ohio stop is Thursday. St. Louis is usually Wednesday, but that depends on where you are coming from, too. If you are close, you can probably link up on Thursday morning.

There's also a layover (generally) in Indianapolis, IN where you can probably link up. That time window is going to be a little tighter and more elusive because several guys from the north link up there and they have a tendency to break things and have lengthy stops for no apparent reason.

I'm wrapping up details for the Thursday night portion. Don't forget to join the I-70 Convoy Mailing List so you don't miss any details.

I just joined the group. I cannot guarantee that I will be there, but I should be. I will be driving my EXP...controlled by a Merkur ECU, and shooting fuel with Merkur injectors and measuring air with a Merkur VAM. Is that close enough?

It's a lot closer than the Previa I drove in 2006.

I joined the group, but haven't gotten approved I guess. I'm about 5 hours from St. Louis.

Colin- You'll have to help him out with designing a proper Merkur badge for the car. :P

I saw that Jerry hasn't approved it yet. (It's his approval process so I'm not going to step on his toes.) You aren't the only one waiting. He needs to get busy!

Ah, I wish I had been checking this thread more often (but, alas, I am not going to PA). Here's the low-down on the St. Louis activities (from the Midwest thread and a couple emails on the SLAMON list from Jerry):
Freejack wrote: I wanted to invite any Merkur enthusiasts in the St. Louis area (and beyond) to join us Wednesday evening, June 4th, for dinner, fun and of course beer at Schafly Bottleworks in Maplewood, MO as we see off those headed to Carlisle via the convoy. Even if you are not planning to travel to PA, please come out and join us for an evening of Merks & beer (such a good combination, no?).

Information about Schafly Bottleworks: http://www.schlafly.com/brewpubs.shtml

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or drop me an email at jake_dot_schnarre_at_emerson_dot_com.

See you there!
And this is from Jerry via the SLAMON list wrote: Carlisle weekend this year is June 6-8. Our Merkur convoy will pull
out of St.Louis on Thursday morning, June 5th.

So.. our SLAMON gathering will be on Wednesday evening June 4th.

If we have out-of-town Merkur folks, they stay at the Red Roof Inn at
Hampton and I-44. So.. meeting at Schlafley's Bottleworks, as we have
for the past few years, works out pretty well logistically. And, it
has that nice outdoor patio area protected from the elements. Food is
good and the bier is EXCELLENT!!! :)
And here is the info on that Red Roof: http://www.redroof.com/reservations/inn ... umber=0135

Of course the group will leave first thing Thursday morning, usually after an photo op somewhere (the Arch, Forrest Park, somewhere like that).

PM me if you have any questions!

Thanks

Jake
