Join MerkurSport - he maintains a regularly-updated build thread for the car on that site.

Most extensive example of deep orange peel evah!

YMMV ;-)

That was by far the WORST clear coat job I've ever done. Good thing theres 4 coats on!!

Just a little more work, I'm taking a break now that Carlisle came and went. I'll get back into it next week

I wondered what the issue was, since I don't see anything in the picture.

I've heard of someone who restored a Mustang getting points taken off by the judges for not having enough orange peel. Maybe it ended up here.

Here's a closer shot from my files. Can't see any paint issues in this pic either.

I still can't see it, it just pixelates when I zoom in. I'd like to see some other pictures of that car though, the no drip rail look intrigues me.

At night the peel almost shimmered in the hotel parking lights.

YMMV ;-)

There was also paint or clearcoat drips on one of the doors.

Yes, the imperfect paintjob is imperfect. Karl himself has acknowledged the imperfection and made his intentions to repair it known. Do we need to keep picking apart the car?

Thank you sir, those are a lot kinder words then what I was thinking/or would have responded with.

I guess I'll have to wet sand and buff this out ASAP to make everybody happy

Really?

You must have missed the 1" sag on the back right corner at the tip of the wing too

Car was awesome to see in person. Stance, wheels and Cossie arches looked near perfect to how many would like to acheive on their XR.

Here's a closer look at the paint from a pic karl posted on MerkurSport (for those still wondering what everyone is talking about):

I see it in that picture, but honestly, I've seen new cars that looked worse than that. Regardless, I am sure it looked better than before, and you only had to pay for materials and with your time.

What was done to keep the arches from cracking from stress?
