Not only was it funny looking but Loud! Everyone stopped whatever they were doing and watched it go by. Those Soccer Moms are getting aggresive!

Actually I sort of like it. But I just got out of lifted trucks for only a year now. There used to be a Aerostar monster truck called Boogie Van. Watched the thing bounce into a wall at the sliverdome.

Aha! See, the Aerostar was based on a truck platform, unlike most minivans which are based on car platforms, e.g., the Windstar was based on the Taurus platform. The Aerostar was, if memory serves me correctly, based on the Ranger platform-- it was rear-wheel-drive. Therefore, it would be easy to "monster".

i had a friend with a 80something aerostar... it was beat to hell... but it wasnt slow. he used to bully people off the road alot... because he wasnt scared to get hit.. the car already looked like crap.

he later traded it in for $50. and got a 98 windstar.

We had two Windstars; leased them, one '97 and one '99. Tell you what-- they were not penalty boxes. They had balls, and went on the highway pretty well for what they were. Practically speaking, they are outstanding family vehicles, never mind the public's image of them. I enjoyed taking trips to California, Utah, Nevada, and all around Arizona with Christine and the kids. We could fill up in Phoenix, drive 400 miles to L.A., and I mean at 80-90 mph, and still have about a quarter of a tank of gas when we got there. Can't do that in the Explorer... once we were driving home, going through the Palm Springs area; everyone was settling down and getting sleepy, and I looked over at Chris and said, "How fast do you think we're going"? She couldn't tell. It was 100 mph, and we were just gliding along like an airliner.
