Here is a link to a good Ebayer where I purchased my heater valve. There is a picture there. I erroneously stated it was for Windstar, but it is in fact for Aerostar, late 90's, or 94 Exploder. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=33545
The only mod is that the center return port faces away from the tube manifold, and I used a molded 180 degree hose with a union to get around that.
Installed pictures can be viewed on my website.

Well, as I've said, I replaced the thermostat with a 195 and changed the valve at the same time, and I have good heat (120-130 at the center vent). This is the best I've been able to manage since buying the car a couple years ago.
It's only been in the upper 40's since I did it, so I don't want to make any blanket statements about any kind of miracle cure for heat.
I believe this to be a better valve, and to allow more flow through the core when it's open. It's a butterfly valve instead of a plunger and plug like the original. Restricting outflow from the core doesn't seem to help.
I just thought it was a cool replacement option for those who aren't showing their cars, but care about A/C performance in really hot weather.
Plus, it only cost about 10 dollars to do.
