13 Days to first points event, and of course, i decided at the last minute to change some things.

Off season changes - front spring rate changed from 500 lb / in to 600 lb / in - 1" shorter springs, also lowered height on perch slightly so about 1.5" lower static. Will adjust as needed. Lowered rear 3/4" as well.

Oil pump, erm, well, safety wired in.

Welded reinforcement tabs for front tow hooks.

Fixed some slow leaks. Still need to get that radiator fixed, but the weep is so small it doesn't phase me.

Biggest change isn't in yet, decided to go with a 238 code t5 (thanks Brad). I think the ratios with the 3.36 rear end will be good for my power levels and types of courses we have. Dropped the input shaft off to be machined today. Going to modify the input shaft to basically be a 2.3 shaft. Gave the guy all the specs. Didn't want to deal with spacer or anything.

OD on pilot bearing was 17.42mm or 0.686"
OD will be 15.00mm or 0.588"

Will reduce length on the pilot bearing by 0.250" and also push back the spline portion 0.250".

Disassembled and inspected the gears - everything looked really nice, not worn, blocker plates, synchros, etc didn't appear to be worn. Not much, if any metal on the magnet so i'm hopeful.

Really didn't do much else, car was pretty sorted last year.

Have some pics on my phone. Nothing really exciting.
I might weld a cover on instead of that polycarbonate plate on the intake manifold. Not entirely sure yet.

Thanks :)

Quick question for those of you who have had the input shaft machined from a v8 or v6 mustang t5 - is it case hardened? Mine is getting done today, just had to verify.
My class this year got pretty impressive. CP is mostly a v8 class, so i'm against a bunch of very well prepared mustangs and camaros. Some in the 600hp range. Should be fun. I'm the only 4 cyl in class... But i have been the only 4 cyl in class for years anyway.

Don't know if it's case hardened but that's the same thing we did with my V6 T5.

Did it a couple of years ago and it's been working just fine.

Fun day yesterday. Need to work on my driving, but my co-driver snagged first in a pretty competitive CP class in the merkur yesterday. Gotta love beating ALL the fire breathing v8's with a little 4 cyl that's older than almost everyone in class...

Car ran like a top. No issues.

Either on FB, or on MS-- where it's never worked, anyway. I "Like" the idea, though! :headbang

I love this car, I learned a lot from this thread and "Joe's Rain cloud".

It was okay - the lot they gave us was smaller than expected, but the pavement was nice. The course was somewhat simple, but fun. The road course looks like it's going to be a blast :)

Oh, my XR won in a large field again. Again, my co-driver did it. I need to get my head on straight. At least the car's fast :)
