Back into Xratties

Post by CanadianXR »

Spent 2000$ on another XR, and I'm a bit more committed to this one (for now) GAZ coil overs, T-5 with one piece drive shaft going back to a (claimed) escort cosworth LSD. PBR fronts and cossie rear disks too! With a 2wd cosworth intercooler and a shorty rad I shouldn't be having heat issues but thats why the previous owner parked it... Swapped out the thermostat and it ran pretty bad (cuts out at 12psi) but the suspension is pretty tight! Found some poly bushings when I lifted it up on a hoist, but I'm not really sure of how many there are. Should be a good project for me, lots of little things.

Anyone in the Vancouver BC area give me a shout! I'd love to meet up and swap ideas once I get it on the road.

I either have a problem with taking other people's old broken stuff or a serious shopping addiction, because I now have a non-running '89 XR

and...

A '89 SHO with a hole in the trans.

Pics to follow and I got my tools out!

Yeah, fill us in-- I know an SHO enthusiast here in Arizona (had a '93 for a while myself), and I'm sure we can help you get them both running.

Decided to do some work on the cars today, charged up the battery and tried to start the red car. The AC WOT cutoff and fuel(?) relays were chattering so i cleaned and dried out the whole fuse box. All 3 brake lights are staying on whenever the battery is connected too...

Turning over the motor just gives a bit of backfiring but at least it turns over! Found some suspicious wiring done to the idle air control connector
