Whoa! 300 is way too stiff. 175 or 180 at the coilover location. It equates to about 500lbs at the stock location.

It really depends on what kind of driving you do and what are the goals for the car. 300's arent bad, 225-250 is more friendly though.

I'm running 300's and they are decent compromise between comfort and performance. The 350's were way too stiff, at least for Chicago streets and my hiney.

Thank you guys, I am thinking 300, but I just check mc2racing page and they don't offer the 300 with the coil over conversion packages. Only 225, 350 and 500, they do have the 300 springs but they sale them separate, I think the 225 are to soft for my and the 350 you guys said are to stiff, I don't know what to do, maybe get the 225 and then buy the 300 spring in the future. Thank you all of you for the help. Merry Christmas.

Tell MC2 what you want, they'll sort you out. They're not Wally-Mart...
I think I have Afco 300s in a box here.
As for opinions, I ran with 500s on the street for a while, but I never had to commute with it.
Our roads are literally falling apart around here, so the car has been parked. I find myself clenching my teeth driving the Toyota Avalons we use as DDs/tow vehicles.
It's not a hobby, it's an obsession!

My Focus ST has 175lb/in springs from the factory, and the car is definitely heavier up front than an XR4Ti. That said, 175lb/in springs up front on an XR should give you a sporty OEM feel. As mentioned on the mc2racing site, I would recommend a 225lb/in spring up front on a truly sporty street XR. If you aren't going to race at any point I don't see much reason for going stiffer than that. 225lb/in is more than double the stock front spring rate as-is.

Alas, everyone can sit in the same car and they'll each have a different taste, and a different impression of the feel of the car.

Oops, thought it said rear somewhere, or I was messing with mine and that stuck in my head. That being said, the mid-200s is about as Stiff as you want on a purely street car. Even if you track it for fun, it will still be quite enjoyable.

I'm using Koni yellows and originally I had 350's (way to stiff), went to 250 and way to soft (for my taste), I have 8"long x 300lb/in now and I think they are OK, I might try 275 next however. I think this can get rather subjective. Perhaps use 300 as your upper range and 225 as the lower. Where you land depends on how much commuting you do and how smooth the roads are. 8" is the shortest I'd go. Sometimes the springs go solid on rough surfaces.

Thank you everybody for all the tips, opinions and first hand experience, as soon as I get the car on the road again I will drive it all the time, almost always drive the XR by my self and in very rare occasions a co-worker ask me for a ride, I really don't worry about vibrations and the roads here in Kewanee are not perfect but not to bad in my opinion, I like to drive the car hard, after I think a lot about this, I made my decision and I just order the 300lb/in springs with helpers. I think that is the rate I will enjoy the best based on the way I like to drive my XR. Again thank you all of you for the tips I really appreciate all of them. Merry Christmas to all of you and your Families.
