Rear disc brake kit 11" NEW DESIGN

Post by timxr8 »

***UPDATE May 2021***

The current design uses 2012+ Focus calipers and comes with brackets, bolts, and DOT direct fit SS brake lines for $175. Disc parking cable adds $55. Prices include shipping.

Much of the following information is very old and based on my Version 1. Mounting looks identical, but uses Focus Calipers.

***Many breakers will advertise the Escape/C-Max/Transit calipers as being the same, but they are different***
The pad carrier (steel bracket) is taller on the Escape and is marked with a "280" for the 280mm rotors. The Focus have a "271" on the bridge of the bracket for the 271mm rotor (even the RS which uses a 300mm rotor has the "271" on it). From what I can see online, the EcoSport has the same caliper as the Focus, but I've never held them in my hand.

Calipers can be found for less than $100 a pair (I got mine for $70 shipped)

The funny thing is, the Sierra parking brake cable fits right in perfectly.

What year Focus SVT are you talking about for the rotors?

I just wanted to verify. I wonder if some other rotor would fit. Are these SVT rotors difficult to source?

Not hard at all. They can be anywhere from economy ~$8 a piece to the EBC for over $180 pair. My Autozone had 2 in stock when I checked.

man where was this kit last year, probably could have saved me some cash. I cant wait to see installed pics and hear feedback about the feel of it.
I wonder how the pad choices are (performance wise)

I had the idea a year ago, but hadn't gotten around to execute it yet. I'm excited too. I'll have extras if you want to change your mind. Pad choices are pretty vast as the pads are the same between the C-max/Escape and the Focus (ST included).

Will any of the stock wheels will clear this set up? Maybe the basket weaves?

I don't know about the 14", but I guarantee the stock 15" wheels will.

***Actually, none of the stock 15" wheels fit this setup***
