XR featured on Wheelers Dealers this season
Just a heads up the Wheelers Dealers show is going to buy, repair and sell an XR this season. Might be worth a watch to see what they have to say about our beloved car.

Definitely going to be waiting to see that!
Re: XR featured on Wheelers Dealers this season
I heard about this Saturday.
This is one of my favorite shows so this is very exciting! Questions...
1. Will they mod it or return it to stock?
2. Will they be able to turn a profit on it?
3. Has Mike Brewer showed up at Mike or Jeff's places of business looking for parts? I guess Rapido is closer, but it all depends on what doesn't work.
I predict a Cossie clone.

I too would guess a run up the coast to Rapido...but in 2019 anything can be at your doorstep in a couple days from UPS/FedEx/etc.

You'll never truly know if they make a profit on it. They often haven't even sold them by the time they "sell" it.

I love this show! Gonna be interesting to see what road they take on the XR.
That said, who gets sort of tweaked that no matter what they do or how much they make, they NEVER consider the price of the labor hours involved in repairing/modding a car? I kind of "justify" it by believing that they are taking the perspective of the hobbyist that is buying one car, tweaking it for the fun of it, keeping it for a while and then flipping it. I don't know.

I hope it doesn't end up like that goofy Pacer, where they can't sell it. We want to see a big profit!

Re: XR featured on Wheelers Dealers this season
I just watched it on YouTube, if it's the same one. It's an '85 model / white / no sunroof / velour interior. Kind of disappointing. They didn't do much to the car at all. It was a relatively clean car to begin with. It had a Cossie grill and an intercooler. They scrapped the intercooler, put in some euro-headlights, painted the cladding and rebuilt the a/c compressor. Did some other minor stuff to it. Didn't really get into much on the 'history lesson' or even the reason Ford couldn't call it a 'Sierra' here in the states. Brewer even commented that the car had a 'competition shell' (meaning it didn't have a sunroof) but anyone not knowing what he meant would simply not understand his statement. Kind of cool for the Merkur crowd but not that thrilling of an episode.

Will they ever do a Scorpio?

Can't do up a Scorpio and sell it for a profit.

We're lucky they didn't part it out to try to make their money back. Lol.
