1989 Merkur XR4Ti For Sale

I am reluctantly selling my 1989 XR4Ti. November 23rd 1988 build date and production ended about 1 month later so this is a late car. I bought this vehicle from the original owner last year. When I bought it, it needed a Transmission as there was No Reverse. Was stored in a garage for about the last 15 years.

Since, I have put a rebuilt Transmission in it. Vehicle runs and shifts great. Also replaced both Cam and Crank Seals, New Timing Belt, New Thermostat, Flushed coolant and Brake fluid and performed an oil and filter Change and new fuel filter. Also has 4 brand new tires. Car will need new Motor Mounts and Steering Rack rebuilt as current rack is leaking. Will also need an AC Compressor which was missing when purchased. However, I do have a high pressure hose included with the car. Grille is currently off the car but is included.

Paint is all orignial. One year only Radiant Red with the exception of the Passenger door which was replaced by the previous owner due to car behind hit in the door while parked. I do not have the original door. Paint can be buffed out.

I also do have the Center Caps and Locks!!

Car has been a southern car since new. Bought new in GA and spent its entire life there. Pinch Welds and floors are rock solid. No rust ever. No accidents ever. Clean Title. Have original owners manual and both keys and wheel lock key.

Car is now located at my buddy's place in Kissimmee FL. Asking $5,500 or Best Offer!.

You'll have to host them if not a paid member. I would do a craigslist ad then put the link here. It's free if you put it in the barter section.

I believe the auto parts section of Craigslist is also free to post in, and may garner more potential buyers viewing it. Besides here, it is probably worthwhile to advertise elsewhere like eBay and Craigslist if you aren't already. There's probably more people interested in buying a first Merkur than a second, third, or fourth

It cost me 5 bucks to list a car in the CL automotive section. Maybe it was free awhile back? Worth it since more people look there than the barter section I'd imagine. Ebay will take their cut, but you will get an even wider audience.

I've listed tons of stuff, including cars, never had to pay...

There's another XR on FB marketplace, an 86, for $12,500 in Des Moines Iowa. It's hard for me to find these listings because sometimes they show up and sometimes they don't. Autotempest doesn't seem to help, and the collector car feed search engine doesn't seem to work well anymore. I see the 89 but nothing showing for the 86.
