Ed- You do realize if we got Ken and Alan in the same room, we could likely sell tickets to the ensuring fist-fight, don't you???
For reasons I'm not too clear on, Alan seems to have totally seperated himself from the Merkur world. A few months back, he was selling all his Merkur-related literature on eBay. His old car was parted, and may have already been crushed by now. It seems he's checked out on us....

Yeah, well I think he was more informed than most people have decided he may have made them think (playing the same logic).I dont really think ken was as well informed as he may have made many think
And MerkurGarage, initiated and supported solely with his efforts and funds, and based on his training as an auto tech and particularly on Merkurs, was very helpful to numbers of Scorp and XR owners. Wwho else in this community had similar or superior credentials? Dave Compton was a great resource as his website still is; Alan Slocum's work was and remains also. But neither resources were set up for public access as was the Garage. Now, Dave Planakis, e.g., could do that as well and maybe better but he hasn't and won't because he doesn't want to. And even if he did, DP's ego is at least if not larger than the size of KT's, as is his occasional intolerance of nutcases, lazies, unteachables, and bomb-throwers.
kmtkr@shinbiro.com was KT's email address in 2000; it's worth a try.
YMMV

What I'd like to see at this years Carlisle is MY F$%King CAR!!!!!
Something ALWAYS decides to stop cooperating just prior to the show and I have to sit it out.
I think I will try to drag Scott Miller and the nearly crushed Legendary 6Cyl Super Charged Merkur.
So when one of our rides dies, the other can tow it.
Outside of that Russ Harness!!!!!

I thought Carlisle was a place where all Merkur owners could come together and show their works in progress, whether you brought a finished car or not. Ive seen a hell of alot of cars that did not look very good at all at Carlisle...BUT i didnt sit there and knock them for trying. Carlisle is supposed to be a place where Merkur fanatics can have a good time and talk about our love for this car. I did notice that i needed bigger wheels. I spent over 8 grand putting that kit on my car and couldnt afford to spend the 5grand needed for the wheels that year.DPDISXR4Ti wrote:Do we know of any of those K2's that have survived? What about the Blue-green XR with the Eribuni body kit? You know the one that looks like Homer Simpson would drive?
I could do without seeing that Erebuni bumper car. Maybe with some big wheels & tires I'd feel better about it.
I wonder if any other Merkur owner who is a paying MCA memeber gets knocked on for not having their car 100% complete/finished.
Maybe those of us who still need work done to our cars should just not show up 2 Carlisle. Then again..what would Carlisle be without the "needs work" crew??
If that were the case, the Merkur event at Carlisle would consist of one car....ZTEE24..and even she still has future plans for her car!
gimme a break
