Volvo head...on the car!
Volvo head...on the car!
I pulled the iron head (with the help of a friend to lift it... ) and put the volvo head on today. Now I've gotta get me some weld els and start fabbing up a header. I've got a pretty wicked design in mind... if it turns out anything like I hope it will, you won't be disappointed.

Yeah, I talked to Phil Marshall at Carlisle and came to my senses. Apparently I can use stock pistons, so I don't really have any reason to build up a block just yet. I just figured it was more trouble than it was worth... and what would I be gaining? A native serpentine belt setup and a direct-drive oil pump? Screw it. I want the thick-walled, stout-as-hell large journal 2.3.
EDIT: spelling (after a year... )

Yeah, I like that. Are those the same ones used for the hatch? I want to do that, too.AlexD wrote:I just noticed you got hood shocks colin, instead of the rod.
3" mandrel bent exhaust, Ported/Polished head, 1.89/1.57 valves, Gutted uppper/Knife edge lower intake, T3/T4, LA3, Big VAM, Cold air intake, 40bob header, Gillis valve, Forge BOV, Mustang SVO T5, Conquest intercooler, 20psi.
Yeah, I copied David Godfrey and others... I did that the day I got back from Carlisle. I just used the struts and ball studs from the hatch of my parts car... they're a little strong, though.

You're being far too logical Colin. When your only goal in life is to sit in front of the computer and make useless, indecipherable posts all day, the actual content of the post is completely irrelevant.
Given what you've indicated, it sounds like tired, old shocks would probably do the job better than a pair of new ones.
