This may be helpful to some who don't understand why they get flamed for asking a "stupid" question.

http://www.davecompton.com/ass.htm

Dave used to have a whole article on his site about "How to ask a question", but it looks like he was asked to take it down.

The bottom line is, you'll typically get as much effort put into a response as you put into asking your question. GIGO....

Which is fine!!! I didn't want flow charts and a choreographed display of why this head won't work.

This entire post could have ended with one reply.... "No, it won't work."

Was that so hard??? Anglin (who I like and have great respect for) wrote a ginormous response on the last page of this thread. obviously it's not about the time, or effort to answer someones question. I don't know what it's about to be quite honest. But at the end of the day, at least there is now a mention of the 4.6l head not working (the same result could have been achieved with two posts) so at the end of the day, don't we all feel like we've achieved something? :D

I agree with the above link (dave) to a certain degree. If I was asking how to hook up the la3 and big vam on here, then sure, I should have done some research since that answer involves someone to sit down and write out a lengthy answer (or just send them to the merk encyclopedia.)
But when the question involves a two letter response (N-O for those not keeping up), Dave can suck a dick.

Ginormous? That's funny! You should read more of my replies. I've got some doozies out there when it comes to long replies. :D

The problem is that future hope for a civilized answer on forums and mailing lists has been destroyed by folks asking the 2.3 Duratec head on the Lima block question over and over. This puts folks with genuine questions about head swaps at a big disadvantage.
Dave can suck a dick.
Hah! Wait, now that's the funniest thing I've read in months!

Yeah, I can't wait 'til you tell him that in person-- like maybe in Carlisle this spring-- then I can really start laughing.

:D I do not know who this dave is, but that's all I meant is that I do agree with him in most cases, but when you can give a quick response and save a fellow enthusiast some time, and yet refuse to do so just because you don't want to... well then you're a dick. (I'm not sure if Dave falls into this category, I was just generalizing.)

However having worked in customer service before, I can certainly see where he is coming from!! But I believe there is a difference between trying to be lazy, and trying to be efficient.

You're absolutely right. i'd never seen it mentioned, and i sure don't blame you for doing all that searching when a yes or no answer would work.

and anglin, i'm not sure if i agree with saying "if you don't see someone working on putting the head on the lima block, it probably doesn't work." there are always new ideas out there. who knows when someone else will come up with one?
