What size / offset are your rims?

Also are you running Scorpio LCA's or stock? If the Scorpio set up, what did you have to do to make it work? I've got DG's camber / caster plates sitting in the garage right now along with the install tool. Just need to find the time to install them.

GPz11, I know you autocross now and becareful before you cut any thing because the only class you can cut the strut towers is CP, All other classes you can not modify your strut towers.

Hey Ben,

I'm not planning on running any SCCA events. Just doing local club stuff.

Ive tried a bunch of different senerios. Here have been my results.

Stock tower, stock arms = blah

stock tower, stock arms drilled 1/2" outboard on the subframe (look back into the thread to see why) = smidge better

Stock towers, Scorpio arms (drilled still 1/2" out) = cheap setup with decent results.

Camber plates (max camber and max caster), scorpio arms drill out board = negative effects for mid corner, great turn in, braking sucked (7* of camber or something crazy)

Camber plates with caster only added, scorpio arms drilled outboard = better than before but still too much. Roughly 4.5* of camber

Camber plates maxed on caster and camber, stock arms drilled outboard = best results. 3.75* of camber and a ton of caster. Wouldnt work with slicks as well but a small street tire it is fantastic. Mid corner push is gone unlike before when I had too much camber. Tire wear is dead even.

What do you mean by the stock arms drilled outboard?

I'm currently running 205/50/16's so fairly small tires too.

Thanks!

Playing catch up. Finished off the season.

Got the TPS replaced and new motor mounts in. More updates on those later. Car felt really good and throttle response was better than it ever has been. The TPS may have been an issue for a long time. Even though the car did well, I didn't, but was please to see the car run within a few tenths to a well prepared STU E36 M3 even though I coned it away.

Then I had two more events where I was closing the gap on the competition but never was able to beat them.

So the big question. What is going on next year... well stay tuned. Looks like the Merkur won't be dropped so quickly as I had originally intended.

So this weekend I made a little progress on the merkur's face lift that is happening this winter.

Image

40 minutes later...

Image

Then I cut out all the brackets that mounted the old radiator and intercooler setup. Then started test fitting the new setup.

Image

Trying to figure out how the hell I'm going to get the intercooler fed air past this massive cobra radiator... maybe upside down? Anyone have any ideas?

Image

Here is another project engine in the garage... don't worry, not going in the merkur... yet.

The VW turbo uses the front tube as the intercooler piping. So you could incorporate your front round tube as the IC piping. The Porsche uses two IC up front in each corner with the front tube as the connecting pipe. I really like the way they did that. It frees up a lot of room on the VW. Nice work, nice driving!

have new end tanks welded on, get a different intercooler, or a narrower radiator.

Yeah, sell this core, get one with side outlets, and run the pipes around the ends of the rad. You could even come up through the fenderwell sheet metal for gentler curves in the piping.

Are you needing more cooling than a shorty rad provides? If so, maybe there's something else wrong in your cooling system.
