meaning he'd been on here long enough to build up some cred to not get totally shamed.

haha, you guys are funny. :) Or maybe I'm not a good writer. If you look at the post that said I was "leaving" all that was me talking to myself (the part in quotes anyway.) I was just writing what I was thinking when I was preparing to right the first post.

Anywho, all better now. I'm not leaving. I'm not mad at anyone. who do I look like? Alex???

We don't really know what either of you looks like!

But I think we can meet in the middle with all this-- new guys, try to search-- old guys, try to be patient and exercise a little noblesse oblige. If everyone's trying all around, we should be in pretty good shape.

No, Alex doesn't even realize when we're mocking him... and we've gotta ban him to make him leave - right, Erik?

I don't know Toyota stuff at all, but "R22" is what's rattling around inside my head. David Brumblebee (sp?) would probably know - he's the one who runs the Volvo head swap list. But again, from what I've heard, it is a more complicated swap than the Volvo head.

probably. the truck heads would be stouter than the car's. to be honest, i doubt many of toyota's standard NA motors would handle much more than stock levels of hp :? . the truck ones might, but i still think the volvo would be the way to go.

why not just swap the whole 2.3 duratec in there?

or a 5.0 mustang?

^^ I'm with stupid. :D

The Volvo swap is already a borderline pain in the ass... if you're going to get any more complex, just swap the whole damn engine. The Duratec looks like a kick-ass mill. :)

who is stupid? certainly not me... :?

the only reason for doing a head swap on a 2.3 is cuz the bottom ends on these engines are so strong. but the duratec is ALL ALUMINUM. yum.

And now that I see THAT, I'd have to say my recollection of it being the Toyota R22 head was dead-as-door-nuts wrong.

So I wonder if one of the 5.0 heads would swap onto the later Lima 2.5 motor. I mean, obviously 5.0 divided by 2 is 2.5, so I bet it bolts right on, right?

brad, you stinker.

that R22 head looks awful. it belongs on a gutless toyota pickup.

<sigh> Or not...

In fact, a couple of those heads ARE in private hands, but they're all but useless. They are non-production parts that have ZERO parts availability. Modifying the Volvo head is actually a MUCH better proposition in most every way.
