Antifreeze tank
I am looking for a coolant reservoir that has a rounded shape, in the area of the shock absorber support. New or in very good condition.

Re: Antifreeze tank
Check with RAPIDO in U.S. (sells Merkur XR4TIi and Scorpio parts, new and used).
YMMV

He sets huge prices. 400 is very expensive in my opinion.Ed Lijewski wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 4:29 pm Check with RAPIDO in U.S. (sells Merkur XR4TIi and Scorpio parts, new and used).

Wow, I need to increase my prices...$400 USD for the coolant bottle is insanity!Vovan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 11:23 amHe sets huge prices. 400 is very expensive in my opinion.Ed Lijewski wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 4:29 pm Check with RAPIDO in U.S. (sells Merkur XR4TIi and Scorpio parts, new and used).

Re: Antifreeze tank
$400 is a lot, but if you require "new" for an item in extremely scarce supply (Rapido may be only source for even one new '89 tank) why complain?
A good used '89 one, which are only a but less scarce, would work fine for less.
A good used '88 style (squarish; also scarce) will work for probably a bit less.
YMMV

Re: Antifreeze tank
400 is a lot for any tank, it's just unreasonable. I understand that it's not easy to find such a part today. But I also don't understand whether there are really millionaires who are looking for Scorpio parts and will pay that kind of money.Ed Lijewski wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 7:28 am $400 is a lot, but if you require "new" for an item in extremely scarce supply (Rapido may be only source for even one new '89 tank) why complain?

Re: Antifreeze tank
It's just that for 400 I can buy an engine from a Scorpio, but here I have a plastic tank.Ed Lijewski wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 7:28 am $400 is a lot, but if you require "new" for an item in extremely scarce supply (Rapido may be only source for even one new '89 tank) why complain?

Re: Antifreeze tank
There are indeed Merkur owners, of Scorpio and XR4Ti, who would not think twice at that price for a new coolant reservoir--given that they are not available anywhere else. We aren't among them; but the price doesn't drop just for our smaller wallets.Vovan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 8:57 am400 is a lot for any tank, it's just unreasonable. You just received, at no item cost, a complete headlight and turn signal set in great condition. That saving will offset easily much of the $400 price.

Re: Antifreeze tank
I have never met anyone who would pay $400 for a plastic tank, even the BMW and Mercedes owners I know would think it was too much. It's way out of line. Such prices might be acceptable in the premium or collectible car world, which the Scorpio is not. I don't think it's appropriate to mention the headlights, as that was a completely different deal with a completely different person. I bought new headlights, turn signals, and taillights (new originals) on eBay, and all of these items cost the same as this one plastic tank. I understand that he can set any price he wants, even if he asks $40,000 for one tank, that would be his right. But that doesn't mean it's reasonable.Ed Lijewski wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 12:07 pmThere are indeed Merkur owners, of Scorpio and XR4Ti, who would not think twice at that price for a new coolant reservoir--given that they are not available anywhere else. Re: Antifreeze tank
In fact, I was ready to overpay, because I know that Rapido inflates prices compared to other sellers. But I could not imagine that the price could be so high. I would rather spend time and find a good tank at a dismantling site for about 5 dollarsEd Lijewski wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 7:28 am $400 is a lot, but if you require "new" for an item in extremely scarce supply (Rapido may be only source for even one new '89 tank) why complain?

Re: Antifreeze tank
I just bought a new air conditioner condenser on eBay for $450. Rapido was asking $750 for it. It looked a little worse for wear, was missing some of the fasteners, a dehumidifier, and a hose (all included in the kit I bought). So Rapido was asking $300 more for a less attractive product.
Re: Antifreeze tank
Probably it was not worth inflating this topic. Rapido has the right to conduct its business as it sees fit. I was simply shocked by the price and wrote emotionally. Forgive me if I said too much and was tactless

Re: Antifreeze tank
Put an aluminum expansion tank in the car. They work great and look cool.
The car will be finished soon.
